I got James on my list too...Ive heard too many good things about it

Lol I've passed the mf at least 50 times by now in every bookstore that I've been to with thoughts of grabbin' it til I eventually end up in my coveted Sci-fi & Fantasy section :russ:

Figured it was about time to at least put it in the queue. And it just made sense with The Great Mann reimagining being out now too and seeing them two side by side.

You flying thru the Holly Series. You'll be at Never Flinch in no time. You main digital, physical or audiobooks mostly?

I got Outsiders on my to read list very soon
Mainly physical, but I was bouncing between audiobook and physical for The Outsider. The only reason I used the audio for The Outsider is because I have been reading the mass market paperbacks at work but there isn't one for that book and Libby only had the audiobook available. Listening to just the audiobook was a bit difficult which is why I read the novellas.
I have nearly all of Stephen King's books in hardcover and have paperbacks of nearly all of the hardcover editions I own which I mainly read when I'm at work because I don't care if they get damaged. The Stand and Carrie are the only ones I read on Kindle but I'll probably be reading Holly on ebook at work since that is available on Libby.

Smaller scale & stakes but still good on a grounded level.

Read that last year on my lead up to reading A Song of Ice & Fire. I thought those stories were really fun and would love to read more Dunk and Egg. I know GRRM was inspired by Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, and I recently bought some 70s paperbacks that collects the series

Finished up If It Bleeds novella to wrap up the If It Bleeds book. This is the first all Holly story and it was really good. I'm really liking the growth the character is having becoming more confident in herself. Also the book that Jerome is writing sounds like something I would like to read in real life as far as non-fiction goes lol

If I had to rank them it would go:
If It Bleeds
Mr. Harrigan’s Phone
Rat
The Life of Chuck

Even though I have The Life of Chuck at the bottom it doesn't mean that I didn't like it. It just didn't hit me the same as the others

I def wouldn't mind some more Dunk & Egg novellas. Is that likely with that fukker coming up on yet another HBO bag that he'll probably let them ruin once again when they go past the source material cuz they have nothing to go off of? Probably not :martin:

I think he would rather write Dunk and Egg stories but knows people want Winds of Winter (which I have read rumors that he did finish but rewrote after the reception to the last season of Game of Thrones).

Finished up Different Seasons by Stephen King

Apt Pupil is way more tough than the movie :merchant:

I was wondering where The Breathing Method was going but the story McCarron tells really sucked me in. It's written a bit different from the rest like an Edgar Allen Poe story.

Unless I missed it I didn't see any connections to the with The Breathing Method and the other three stories

I thought this was a five star collection.
I would rank them
Apt Pupil
The Body
The Breathing Method
Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption

Pretty much the same as how I felt about it :obama:

I didn't see a connection either. I think the only one I even can recall from the whole thing is Andy being mentioned in Apt Pupil very briefly.

Shawshank was mentioned in The Body. I also think one of the inmates was mentioned to but I can't quite remember. There is a bit of foreshadowing of Cujo in there.

Red from Shawshank Redemption is from Castle Rock (the setting of The Body)

The more I think about it the more I'm liking The Breathing Method. It might be tied with The Body. It's unfortunate that Stephen King didn't do more with that club and Stevens

Finished Holly by Stephen King. I took a look at some Goodreads reviews and the trumpers/anti vax people were hot :russ:
I find it funny that conservatives that claim to have been fans are just now finding out that is he a liberal that puts his political opinions in his books. Even back in the seventies he was taking shots at Republicans in his books.
Anyway, I thought Holly was just as good as If It Bleeds. Maybe a smidge bit better since the antagonists flow with the story more seamlessly and I felt their crimes were a lot more heinous and unnerving. Also liked seeing the further growth in Holly, Jerome, and Barbara.

I noticed that King didn't use "n*gger" in this book even though one of the characters was racist :ehh:
