OP has a point. I fux with the Griselda camp heavy and guys like Roc Marciano, Alchemist etc, but I'm getting tired of the drumless beats. Having good bars is just one component of the equation. Nikkas be spitting, but I don't have the desire to replay of lot of their shyt because it lacks energy or any kind of bounce to it.

I feel Alchemist has fallen off a lot lately. The drumless beats are getting tiring. The past stuff I've heard from Apollo Brown sounds pretty generic and redundant. He reminds me of a poor man's 9th Wonder.

I never really considered Apollo Brown to be a real Boom Bap producer though with that being said, most of this new stuff isn't truly Boom Bap. Boom Pap production's main signature is the usage of 'heavy' drums, without that this stuff is really sample based, vaguely East Coast influenced mush.

Yea I dont think cats even know what "boom bap" is and saying Roc Marci, Conway, WSG, and Alchemist doing it now with an updated sound is completely off. Its just obscure samples that are flipped beautifully. Sometimes they put drums in it sometimes they don't but to group it as "boom bop" is completely wrong.
Regardless some of my favorite shyts. NY Goon music will never die.
