1) Ample proof that the vaccine provides protection against severe outcomes

2) Age still is the greatest risk factor for severe COVID outcomes. As such, vaccines benefits are especially apparent the older you get.

3) The vaccine is not sterilizing and does not protect against transmission. Even less so against the Omicron variant. This reality really weakens the logic behind strict vaccine mandates.

4) COVID is endemic and cannot be eliminated, regardless of policy options. The sooner politicians and policymakers communicate this reality and shift monitoring towards severity/hospitalization rather than case numbers in total, the better.

5) Here in Canada, most cities introduced a vaccine mandate for indoor establishments way back in August/September and it still made zero difference for transmission. Entire country is experiencing similar surges regardless.

Vaccinated people carry a lower viral load once infected. Therefore they spread less virus cells around when they breathe. If everyone was vaccinated, the population's spread would be far, far lower, putting less people at risk and getting us closer to eradicating the virus entirely.
