If this is real and it goes through, then the Dems made a moral decision to save people from starving, even tho it will hurt certain people's healthcare.

Issue with this is it's not just "certain people's" healthcare. We talking millions of people man. Either people starve or people go broke from medical debts, starving anyway.

SNAP would automatically be funded by the government once it reopens, it's already included in the bill, along with the program's new work requirements.

I agree with you, but I think unfortunately, while fighting to protect the healthcare subsidies is important, food is just as important, if not more so, by quite a large margin, since a functioning human being needs food to survive.

Food Banks and pantries only go so far, you can't allow millions of people to stress whether they're going to have food to eat or not, and with all the back and forth wishy-washy shyt with Trump/SNAP benefits lately makes it where you can't continue to let people suffer in Trump's hands.

Something has to give, and Trump and the GOP clearly have no intentions of budging, as they're adamant about letting this shyt go on for months if need be, so having the shutdown to continue into next year isn't feasible.

Once the government opens up, SNAP will be funded and people will no longer have to anxiously sit around wondering if they're going to eat or not. If this is real and it goes through, then the Dems made a moral decision to save people from starving, even tho it will hurt certain people's healthcare. Something had to be done to end the suffering millions are going through at the hands of Trump and his administration.

Yes, the base will be disappointed, but shouldn't be too hard on them either, because it was a moral decision, you didn't cave for a BS reason but a legitimate one.

No don’t do this. Don't excuse those pussies. Why even shut down the government in the first place if that’s the case?

Most Americans are on the Dems side judging by polls and latest elections. They have the leverage. Most people understand that you can have ACA and SNAP and are rightfully blaming the GOP.

:why:

Damn, no mention of SNAP at all :wtf:
They were never asking for SNAP benefits. SNAP ended because of the shutdown

They were always asking for ACA subsidies. And it was already reported that they adjusted for it to last one year. At least until the 2026 midterms and Republicans didn’t want that because they knew it was going to be terrible and they could lose midterms

Oh I get that, I mean to ensure that SNAP WOULD come back, I would never ever assume anything with these crazy folks in power.

Hell, they ignore shyt in writing, but you can never be too thorough with ProtoFacism.

They were never trying to ensure that though

It SHOULD continue for however long it was already funded for through Congress. If Trump tries to stop it, then people on them should revolt or do something else :yeshrug:

This was never about snap though. Snap was a byproduct of the shutdown

If anything, more people should see that Trump hates everyone who is not already wealthy. Which is 90% of the US at least.

True, but the reality is that it's already going up just from the shutdown continuing; the most important thing is making sure people have food on their tables. Sometimes you gotta make tough choices to save people, even if it puts others in jeopardy; the sacrifices have to be made for the greater good.

Well, if most Americans agree that the shutdown is the Republicans'/Trump's fault, which it is, then that realization shouldn't change if the Dems decide to cave and make an agreement with this new proposal.

We can't expect millions of people, from the elderly, little children, and the disabled, among others to continue going without the certainty of having food to eat. While healthcare is important, food is a necessity, and while it was nice to see the Dems not back down, we can't get too caught up playing their game of trying to “stick it to them” as millions of people struggle to put food on their tables.

With Trump doing what he's doing, it's just causing millions of people to suffer, and while yes many will receive SNAP this month of November. In December, that's where things get dangerous if the shutdown doesn't end soon, because there won't be any funds for SNAP, unless States choose to fund it themselves, but that's a tall task for most.

The Dems probably acknowledge this and realize something has to give for this to end, which is why they're contemplating coming to some form of agreement with this proposal.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Progressives are going to always find a reason to hate Democrats.

If their dumbasses didn't tell half the country not to vote for Kamala, they wouldn't have to deal with Trump in the first place.

The greater good is subjective.

You can forage for food, we have all these guns. Better learn to hunt and dress down.

You cannot forage for cancer medication.

We already in the sacrifice stage. Caving now means greater sacrifices later and the current ones meaningless.

This

None of this would be happening if people had voted correctly.

Whole point of last year was to not get Trump back in office so we wouldn’t be dealing with any of this PERIOD.

Dude was the last person on earth to vote for or to allow his stinky ass back into the White House…

But here we are. Stupid is as stupid does. We could’ve had a normal America at the very least, with people doing “business” how they normally went about it.

But no… people love to be stupid and difficult here. So suck it up, it was either SNAP or ACA credits and I guess they’re trying to find a medium FOR you people..

It’s been obvious since 2019 that Trump does not care about American lives… he cares more about Argentina than you nikkas
