The idea of twitch is stupid as fukk, fukk watching another nikka play a fukking game.
Real talk bruh, life is TOO DAMN SHORT to be wasting your life away on some damn twitch (or Dota2 :mjlol: )

Some ppl choose to stuff gerbils in there asses. Others follow ppl on twitch
Like YOU been saying, use hitbox or whatever if you don't like twitch. XB1/PS4 will eventually support it if thats what gamers want. You a PC dude so by next week you'll have an alternative that is active imo

you're so outta touch and love hearing yourself talk that it's down right retarded at times......but carry on

looks like original in-game music will stay for VOD and you'll be able to play copyrighted music during live streaming, just not VOD. i have no problem with this since the streams i watch only play in-game music:yeshrug:

Twitch's CEO has responded to criticism over the way the video streaming service introduced new policies affecting copyrighted music in videos.

Emmett Shear took to Reddit to do an AMA following criticism of the audio recognition technology that's been introduced to tackle unlicensed music in VODs. His chief purpose was to reassure fans that no such feature will be introduced to the livestreaming section of the site, and systems are being put in place to enable appeals should ambient and in-game music from games be wrongly flagged.

"We have no intention whatsoever of bringing audio-recognition to live streams on Twitch. This is a VOD-only change for Twitch," he said. "We have zero intention of flagging original in-game music.

"We do intend to flag copyrighted in-game music that's in Audible Magic's database. (This was unclear in the blog post, my apologies). In the cases where in-game music is being flagged incorrectly, we are working on a resolution and should have one soon. False positive flags will be unmuted."

Shear apologised about the poor communication stressing, "This was our bad." He also made clear that only two percent of video views on Twitch will be affected by the change, with 20 percent of VODs coming under fire.

The AMA was supplemented by a blog post, which explained the maximum time limit of highlights will be removed, along with the news that an appeal button is being added so you can challenge any videos that you believe have been muted incorrectly.

"We recognise that the system is not yet perfect. We want to make this system as fair and unobtrusive as possible, and we greatly appreciate your help," it reads.

Seeing as yesterday saw one of Twitch's own videos muted along with replays of Dota 2's The International Championships, it seems Twitch itself will be making use of the button as well.

Someone brought up a point that maybe Google did NOT buy out twitch and the deal fell through which would explain Twitch using the video content ID that soundcloud uses and not what youtube uses and is preparing to just become themselves instead of trying to sell the company.

Which makes me think they might try and monetize the VODS which is why you cant have copywriten music in it ? :leon:

the popular streamer vods all get 3-20k views anyway every single vod.. no different than if they uploaded it to youtube.. maybe they are actually SEPERATING themselves from youtube??

this whole situation is weird as fukk

"As an example, YouTube — the sister video site of the company rumored to be purchasing Twitch, remember — was famously sued by Viacom for $1 billion in damages from the latter's copyrighted content being posted on YouTube by users. Judges ruled in YouTube's favor multiple times and the matter was eventually settled, but Google still had to weather years of a stressful, expensive legal process.

Viacom didn't go after YouTube until after it was purchased by Google, after it had grown to a certain size. It waited until that's where the money was.

And now Twitch is in the same position. Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal revealed that Twitch commands the fourth-highest percentage of peak internet traffic in the United States, beating out sites such as Hulu and even Facebook.

In a blog post at the time, Twitch responded to the news: "We're really playing in the big leagues, here. And we mean to step up." Protecting itself from a money-hungry music industry is one of the first and biggest parts of "stepping up."

Shear even owned up to this in response to a question on Reddit: "You can choose not to believe me, but the music industry doesn't think that music licensing is a joke and we don't either."
