Breaking: Google bans music from Twitch

I rarely watch VODs, and the live streams can still have background music, game music, etc.

Really just depends on if the streamer cares about the Twitch VOD, if not they can play whatever they want while live. The streams I watched tonight had music playing as normal so we'll have to see what happens.

The real worry would be when they take the next step and start cutting people's live streams for copyright shyt.

If that happens then Twitch is done, but I don't think the VODs being muted will kill it.

Reddit crowd is saying a 3rd party better host the AMA so Twitch cant filter the questions they going for the neck

Does anyone use twitch to listen to music, or just to see how a game looks
Only reason I used it. And most games I play don't really have lots of music
Sports games... FPS online (campaign probably not either for the most part)

While ppl will and should leave twitch, another option would be to just turn the music off in the options menu

its not just music, its also game sounds and shyt like that. GTA VODs are all muted and shyt off the in-game radio

its a giant clusterfukk

Also, no music via twitch doesn't even make sense. They couldn't live stream anything eventually
They don't want to cripple themselves like that. I see this changing sooner than later

sounds that are in copyrighted content (the audible magic database) will be muted too, its just an algorithm that also produces tons of false positives...unless they do some damage control fast this is hitbox's time to grab and never let go.

no they cant, when this first went live a few hours ago, it was just VODS but now its hitting live streams and muting them for 5 minutes at a time

Top streamers care about VODS cause they upload them to youtube to build their brand or put them on their website.. the people who have 5-30k viewers stream through their own site as well but it just relays the twitch stream

thats cool that YOU only watch stream to see what a game looks like. But MAJORITY of twitch viewers are people who watch specific streamers/games and thats why they have a subscription button and follow button..

I think a lot of the issue is what Francis (the fat guy in the video I posted) talked about

its like Twitch was the perfect plat form for the freedom and new age of the internet, and the old people of the world (the ones with the millions/billions) dont understand it they think people are trying to steal Katy Perry songs off someone trying to play NBA 2k14

I think a lot of us was just hoping Twitch would of put of more of a fight.. Twitch has been popular years and obviously this change is more because of the new ownership from Google.

If anyone was going to fix things a lot of people were hoping it would be Twitch. They were big enough to stand infront of congress and be like "hey, if anything, the 30k people watching this specific league of legends player is hearing a new brand of music and maybe theyll like it and support it, if not its not like they are going to rip the song from the stream cause the guy/girl is talking all over it and they can go play it as many times as they want on youtube already anyway, so basically fukk off, cause this isnt effecting yall in anyway shape or form" but instead twitch just said fukk it, give us a billion and we out
