So the Nets take on Joe Johnsons historically awful contract and now they hire a coach who has never even coached a High School team. I guess the Nets gonna Net. :manny:

Kareem has admitted that he was/is an a$$hole and that hurt him.

What has Ewing done other than be an assistant for a long time that would make him a good candidate for head coach?

At least guys like Thibs and Mike Brown had reputations as being strong defensive minds.

:pachaha:

So it's fine to give a CHANCE at coaching to either a former player in Kidd with no coaching experience OR former assistant coaches, with no NBA playing experience but are "defensive minded", but not to former players with coaching experience and who played defense while being defensive minded. They should not get it cause they were "mean" to the media? clear inconsistent BS

Good for Jason.

He can get his son a good part time job as a Net's mascot. Best part is, you only need to get him the body part of the suit.

He's finally home brehs :to:

It's a risky move, but I'm glad that we are making it. This roster is what it is, a 45-50 win regular season team trying to win 1 Round in the postseason and see what happens Round 2. He's not coming in here to overhaul a roster, he's just gotta teach this team how to move the ball on offense. And I think he knows some shyt about that :heh:

I don't understand this move, but whatever. I mean, Avery Johnson only coached under Don Nelson as an assistant for FIVE MONTHS before he took over.

MY thing is...ere'body talmbout "why they pass up Brian Shaw?", and Pat Ewing Jr. inquiring about his Dad...MAYBE the scuttlebutt on them nikkas is that they ain't that great of coaches?

I'm not saying it is or isn't either way. But there's gotta be SOME reason cats ain't even gettin' a second look.

Way to make a big splash. Way to go Prokhoro:snoop:

Proky is definitely the one that did this. Which he really has no right to, because it's not his job. It's Billy King's. Owners shouldnt be stepping on the GM's toes.

If this fails, it's all on Proky. But I'm sure King will be the scapegoat though

Owner’s should not be making these decisions. I’m not saying it’s a terrible decision, but I think it’s detrimental in the long-run that Prokhorov is making it.

He had to have wowed Billy King & them in the interview or something.

Billy King better be right on this one.

Good luck to Kidd...
This wasn't Billy King's idea. It was Prokhorov's idea in an effort to make a big splash. Just like when they tried to trade for Melo.

King invested a lot of time researching Shaw and was genuinely intrigued. He had been aware of the possibility of Kidd as a potential candidate for a while and still invested a good portion of time in Shaw. Hell, he spent 5 hours interviewing him today

It's obvious that he thinks Shaw is the better hire. But realizes that ownership prefers Kidd. With that information, and with the desire to remain in ownership's good graces after recently just signing an extension, he decided that Kidd with elite and experienced assistant coaches, has enough stability and potential to rival Shaw’s. And even if he didn't think that, after briefing with Prokhorov and his advisors, he agreed to go along with the plan of hiring Kidd even if his gut says that Shaw is the better candidate.

Make no mistake, this is all on Proky, not King. Regardless of how you feel about him as a GM, you can't blame him for this if it goes wrong (even though he will be).

I love the "well he has a great bball IQ" argument....like we have any idea how that translates to coaching.
