Their two best players are fatally flawed defensively….The 1-5 pnr is The easiest and most common play to run in basketball and they have players at those positions that are totally incapable of defending that or any other action …that’s a death sentence

Offensively he is flawed and Jeff Teague made a good point that he needed to fall back and let some other offensive mind quarterback their sets ..and if he was unwilling to do that I get it ..Teague was saying they were running shyt that he faced when he was still in the league

If their next coach isn’t some offensive wizard this was a pointless move because you’re not going to get a better defensive mind than Thibs …Get Brunson off the ball at times and try to maximize OG and Mikal because Brunson ball ain’t it .

you mean the guy everyone thinks is grossly overrated on that end and had no business winning DPOY? That guy?

As for J-Mac, isn't that what everyone thought the Knicks were getting in Bridges?
Everyone are not NBA GMs, analysts and journalists who think that he’s very solid in this new age of guarding. Neither are they friends of stats.

It’s kinda obvious that defense is the hardest thing for “everyone” to assess properly in this position less, high intensity era. I try but I get schooled every time I watch the nerds break it down.

but everyone's holding KAT responsible for that when hiding him can be done AND giving Brunson and management a pass for Brunson not playing it.

Now the easy answer would be starting Mitch but he ain't built to play over a full season.

Can it be fixed? Sure, but as long as Rose and Rosas have this 1-3-1 set up, there will be a design flaw in the starting lineup.
i agree about brunson :hubie:

As crazy as this sounds, why not interview for the head coaching gig? Mike Malone is top choice of course. But Rick Brunson has a lot of coaching experience and might excel in the role. My other dark horse and this is nostalgia speaking- but Jeff Van Gundy. Ty lue spoke highly of him coaching the Clippers defense.
JVG would be a dope choice but I don't think he fukks with Dolan nor would he do Thibs dirty like that. Rick Brunson won't work since he's the star player's pops. That shyt ain't gonna play well in the locker room (see Doc Rivers and Austin Rivers) Mike Malone is a champ but he just got fired 3 games before the playoffs. This feels like a Jay Wright hire, which has disaster written all over it.

Yea blame Thibs for having the p*ssyKAT as your 2nd best player. He doesn't play D and neither does Brunson. Having a 7 man rotation andv40% of your starting lineup not play D wont win you a championship. Like seriously? Who gassed p*ssyKAT up and told him he was the best shooting big man ever? Trade him for more depth.
What u think about KAT for KD straight up? The salaries work and the Knicks can get from under KAT's contract moving forward.

KAT was on the #1 defense in the league the year prior. Thibs couldn’t figure it out.
Come on bro. With all the defensive talent the Wolves had, let's not act like KAT contributed to that #1 ranking. Nobody on that team was nearly as bad as Brunson on defense neither.
