I fukks with thibs

Yeah he rides his best players alot minute wise and doesnt trust his bench.

But everywhere he go he turns the franchise around and they make noise in the playoffs.

Those chi and these knicks teams really overachieved. And i give a lot of that credit to his coaching

Aint like the guy has had all the talent in the world.

fukkin Towns man.

I heard their offensive rating went from top three in the first few months to the 10-15 range post-ASB. They fell behind in almost every playoff game too by large amounts.

A modern coach would probably clean up a lot for them. I wonder if they'll target Jenkins over Malone.

These two posts resonate with me the most. That offense wasn't even a real offense, just switching match ups for Brunson to get open because he doesn't have elite athleticism. DRose had otherworldly athleticism his first few years with the Bulls. KAT takes too many threes because he settles, etc.

The issue is fundamental. I called it too, the ball is in Brunson's hands too much. My son's 5th grade team makes more passes a game than the Knicks do. Thibs is a defensive coach that wasn't smart enough to shore up Brunson's weaknesses on defense. It's one thing to be smaller than the competition but it's another to be made to look like you've never played defense a day in your life. Of course, we can't leave out the lack of utilization of the bench. The transition from game three to four was why he was probably fired. He was forced to use the bench in game three and they came through. Game 4 and beyond, was back on his bullshyt.

So, we have a defensive coach in an offensive era, allowed Brunson to be ball dominant, didn't work with the reserves, etc. Too stubborn for his own good.
The second half of game four was just as egregious as the game 1 collapse to me. He completely abandoned a formula that worked 2 days prior to stick with his beloved 5 for the entire 3rd quarter. I couldn’t believe it.

It just came down to not giving his bench confidence and Brunson and Kat 2 man never coming together.

Great floor raising coach but low ceiling. Thibs could probably coach the Hornets to a playoff spot lol. He's too stubborn to adjust when it counts with a higher end squad tho.

If they retool with the right coach they can make the Finals next year. East is wide open pause.

He deserved another crack at it, specifically to show that the miscues of the ECF were learned from and used in implementing how the team would operate moving forward.

That said... there were numerous instances in the ECF where the Knicks' two best players were unable to perform as such when on the floor together, and there were way too many instances of a defensive-minded coach presiding over a team that did not defend well when it mattered.

When you look at it like that? He probably got the Knicks farther than he should have, and his time may have been up.

You didnt answer my question. Is this a championship team?

No. What we just saw is as good as it gets for them, barring a philosophical change in offensive approach. Good for 47-55 wins, should be a perennial semifinalist, but needs a break or two -- or an other-worldly effort -- to get in actual striking distance of a Finals berth or more.

I mean it was inevitable , it’s been proven his teams and his philosophy doesn’t win chips.

It just seems like they should have waited till next year cuz firing him after having your best year in a quarter century doesn’t feel right.

But at the end of the day, he’s been outcoached by the same man in back to back years and the knicks feel they should’ve gone to the finals after beating Boston and after they made all those major roster moves :hubie: tough break Tom

Thibs got flaws and that game 1 collapse was inexcusable. But odds of them finding an upgrade around 0%

I agree. That's why I thought they should have gave him another year. Because they are assuming that Mike Malone will just automatically go to them because he's a NY/NJ guy and that's not a guarantee.
