I can counter that and say that when he was still on the Wolves before Ant even got there they tried to build around him with Wiggins, Jimmy, and all the old players that used to be on that OG Thibbs Bull team. He not a #1 and never will be he's realistically a 2nd or 3rd option at.best

I doubt he would have sustained it, but down the stretch of the ECF, Thibs went away from what he normally did as far as playing the bench more, etc. It was just too late for all that and wouldn't have changed anything.At thinking Thibs would switch shyt up
The effort to build was there, but Wiggins and Jimmy need the ball in their hands to go to work, much like KAT does. Unfortunately, a bad move is a bad move sometimes, no matter how hard you try to make it a good one. The ECF showed that for the most part, talent that doesn't fit will only get you so far.
I cannot wrap my head around the idea that a career 23/11 player with 50/40/84 shooting splits is at best a 3rd option. 2nd option, sure, but it still requires a specific type of player to be the #1.
Brunson and KAT are #1 types that need a specific supporting cast for it to work.

The east as it currently stands is wide open. I'd like to think Cleveland should be favored -- Indy ran through them, but the Cavs weren't fully healthy -- to lead it, but who knows.
That said, this was YEAR ONE of Brunson and KAT together. On talent, they can lead a team to 50 wins or more. With Boston having to go without Tatum for a year and the Bucks appearing to be in lame-duck mode, this would have been the right time for the Knicks to run it back, but with a different offensive approach.
Now, if it failed in 2026, can his ass.
The more I sit with it, it seems the front office was salty that Indy put them out again and took it out on Thibs.

Brunson is worse on defense than KAT. So it’s funny hearing people blame one of the best defensive coaches in the league for not winning with a 6”2” point guard and a defensive liability in KAT. It ain’t thibs fault y’all wasn’t good enough. Brunson hold the ball too much. It affects the offense . On some real shyt . Knicks never gonna win until y’all get a huge trade . Y’all lost against a team that was just better than you

this not true! If we hadnt choked game 1 it woulda been a 7 game series ECF for sure. Thibs dont even use kat right hes probably the 2nd or 3rd most skilled big.

Mike Malone not the answer, imo. Knicks don’t necessarily need a big name, but someone who's going to open up their offense. More Brunson/KAT pick & rolls. More Mikal mid range shots, easy looks for OG, keeping Hart's mins to about 20 a game. And of course defense.
