Wearing Lions gear when it wasn't cool
Their two best players are fatally flawed defensively….The 1-5 pnr is The easiest and most common play to run in basketball and they have players at those positions that are totally incapable of defending that or any other action …that’s a death sentence
Offensively he is flawed and Jeff Teague made a good point that he needed to fall back and let some other offensive mind quarterback their sets ..and if he was unwilling to do that I get it ..Teague was saying they were running shyt that he faced when he was still in the league
If their next coach isn’t some offensive wizard this was a pointless move because you’re not going to get a better defensive mind than Thibs …Get Brunson off the ball at times and try to maximize OG and Mikal because Brunson ball ain’t it .
This nikka coach every team like he got Derrick rose, learn some sets ya bum
These two posts resonate with me the most. That offense wasn't even a real offense, just switching match ups for Brunson to get open because he doesn't have elite athleticism. DRose had otherworldly athleticism his first few years with the Bulls. KAT takes too many threes because he settles, etc.
The issue is fundamental. I called it too, the ball is in Brunson's hands too much. My son's 5th grade team makes more passes a game than the Knicks do. Thibs is a defensive coach that wasn't smart enough to shore up Brunson's weaknesses on defense. It's one thing to be smaller than the competition but it's another to be made to look like you've never played defense a day in your life. Of course, we can't leave out the lack of utilization of the bench. The transition from game three to four was why he was probably fired. He was forced to use the bench in game three and they came through. Game 4 and beyond, was back on his bullshyt.
So, we have a defensive coach in an offensive era, allowed Brunson to be ball dominant, didn't work with the reserves, etc. Too stubborn for his own good.
