why is the industry up in arms about Netflix wanting it and being totally silent about paramount wanting it?
With Netflix, the industry feels like there's a high chance the theaters become obsolete as Sarandos has made it known through his words and actions that theaters aren't necessary for the movie experience.

While with Paramount there's the very real concern that they'll be a push for MAGA shyt, at least the theater industry won't have its throat slit.

I would prefer less theaters instead of movies filled with MAGA shyt personally.

The Netflix CEO is right. Maybe if Alamo got bigger market share in theater industry it would be better. But the theater experience is not worth the money generally speaking. The half hour of previews and commercials alone is beyond annoying.

Of course people don’t care about the cinema anymore, folks are less social than possibly ever. These tech companies are ran by folks who never cared for human interaction and it shows whenever they’re pitching some new product talking about “simulating real life interactions” ….muthafukka I’ll just go outside and talk to people:stopitslime: but kids don’t operate like that.

So the movies and theater experience suffer, the music and club scene suffer as everything becomes more segmented and tailored to individual experiences and not communal shared experiences.

The issue is theaters are still dying a slow death. They haven't been the same since the pandemic.
