IF this deal goes through, I do think Netflix would have to use the theatrical window because that's the only way they are going to recoup the money off $200M movies. You cannot recoup that money through streaming alone and they should know that.

But everyone in here jumping off a ledge needs to realize that this has a ton of hurdles before it ever gets approved.

Also, blame AT&T. They ran up the debt. Warner Bros. was going to come out of this with a win one way or another. Everyone was talking about "NBA rights" when Warner Bros. was looking at $87 billion dollars for a sale

This is an aside and not to do with your overall post/sentiment. I'm just curious that you find those two more iconic/important than the record breaking Stranger Things - an opinion you don't see often

Just because those were the first two shows that put Netflix on the map for quasi prestige television. I'm not really a fan of any of the shows personally but I think people forgot how noteworthy House Of Cards and OITNB were. Netflix had Kevin Spacey going to the WHCD in character as Frank Underwood, meeting with real senators and shyt. Both shows got Netflix multiple award nominations and drove subscriptions.

I do agree Stranger Things drives attention and subs/resubs too but it came later, after Netflix was accepted as a prestige TV location. BTW I'd also argue that it seems like right now Netflix doesn't really have "that" show that gets awards or other shyt. Ozark was it for awhile.

WB pretty much carried the movie industry in '25. Atleast as far as original IP goes.

I honestly would have liked to see a studio like A24 up for bids like this, but that's idealistic.
