From the little bit of the Knicks game I've seen, he seemed to be solid. OG is overrated to me.
Not a casual, just not a Knicks fan. I don't think OG is any better than RJ. They're somewhat equal which is why this trade isn't a game changer for Knicks outside of cleared cap space that'll likely be wasted since the owner is notorious for self sabotaging the Knicks.

How much does this trade improves the Knicks (what I'd hoped to assume) championship aspirations or at the very least be looked at as an actual contender and not just fodder for teams like Boston, Milwaukee, Philly, and (to a certain extent) Miami to run through come playoff time?

I haven’t watched much of the raptors but with RJ your getting an inconsistent shooter who can get to the rim but never finishes, a guard with shakey handles who often time has tunnel vision unless it’s a Mitch lob. If OG can make defenders respect him outside the arc and guard wings and the larger guards of the league Knicks fans will be happy. RJ couldn’t even do that. That’s all we wanted him to do
