But The knicks basically have to reup OG so the great Leon Rose’s plan is basically A big 3 of Randle, Brunson, and OG :mjlol:
I see it as more of a salary dump than that. They didn’t want to pay Quickley 100+ and RJ was never going to fit. They have flexibility in the offseason if they choose to.

if you hate paying RJ and can't keep Quickley, settling for OG is a solid compromise :m I'manny:
Also, hoping Leon has another move for a guy who can be a top 3 option scoring wise making OG just a 3 and D guy.

We got rid of precious and Flynn

Og is overrated and I wouldn't want to pay him that big azz salary he was gonna get

Now to trade Trent, schoeder and siakam

Trent would've got a first last year. They'll be lucky to get a 2nd out of him now. Schroeder's contract is very tradeable, but nobody really needs a backup guard out there

Flexibility to do what exactly? Late first round picks and grimes? :heh:

this ain't bad by means really. josh may be the worst contract on the roster, but its offset by mitch and brunson being underpaid dramatically considering their value on the court.

they've got plenty of picks to attach to fournier still but even then nothing is hamstringing them. there's teams in 'better' spots only because of sitting on rookie contract scalars - that shyt is a timebomb more times than not though. hard to hate on what ny is doing lately.

Yesterday's price is not today's price, even if it goes lower. Also have to remember the Knicks aren't dealing with Danny Ainge this time.
You're dealing with Koby Altman... who wins all his trades :sas2:

F*ck is Utah and their picks doing 1.5 seasons after the Mitchell trade?

Not a gotdamn thing. Giving up 120 points night. Cavs won that trade

That's fine. But there's a difference between "winning" a trade and bending GMs over the table which is what Ainge is known for doing.

The Gobert trade inflated the trade market particularly with the ridiculous amount of picks. Ainge also was trying to tax the Knicks for being the Knicks.

Every trade doesn't have to result in Year 1 and Year 2 contention. The Jazz made that trade to rebuild/be bad, and bad teams allow 120 points a night.

The overall point is the price Ainge gave the Knicks for Mitchell does not necessarily apply right now. And it likely doesn't. But as long as Brunson exists in the Garden reaching for Mitchell will be a bad fit.

That's the thing.

We all know NY isn't landing a star simply because ownership and management tends to self sabotage themselves. Donovan Mitchell is the only hope/possibility but even then he may return to Cleveland or see what other offers are out there.

Just like the Knicks ownership and management before acquiring Brunson, settled and gave the keys to Randle being the guy for damn near 3-4 years after passing up the opportunity of KD and Kyrie who both originally wanted to be a Knick or at least was open to giving NY an interview but ownership and management was on the fence cause of KD health (understandable) at the time but even then still missed out.

They're gonna wind up overpaying OG just to keep him because his value has already been exaggerated so there's gonna be teams in the off-season with their own set of offers.
