yeah the trade had to happen. id disagree with your assessment on his shooting this year. hes a young player whose 3pt shooting has improved every year. hes had good 3pt shooting months in the past but never two straight months shooting at least 36% from 3 until this year. he already did it in both january and february and is sitting at 40% so far in march. not a huge volume sure but all the signs point to him just becoming a better shooter.

The Bulls have one of the best shooting/developmental coaches in the NBA. They feel like they can fix anyone's jumpshot when they get them in their gym. Results are proof too.

With Giddey it's a combination of a few things.

1. He's still only 22
2. The ball is in his hands a lot more than in OKC
3. Contract year
4. Shooting has improved

This tells me you never watched OKC games.

Giddey needs the ball in his hands to be effective, because he can't do much without it. He couldn't do that with Shai.

Folks are going to be in for a rude awakening when he ends up balling out in Chicago. He showed during the Olympics, he's a much more aggressive scorer than what many are led to believe, and he's a pretty damn good playmaker too. He's just wildly erractic at times, and as much as he can make winning plays, he can erase them with bad ones.

He'll end up being a diet version of Luka for the Bulls.

I'm not sure he's a diet version of Luka yet. He's not a bad player indeed. In fact he's been playing well for them statistically.

Luka is an ELITE scorer off the dribble. Deep step back pull up from 3 ability from both sides of the floor. Josh Giddey probably hasn't made 1 step back 3 all season. Luka isn't a good comparison. I honestly don't even know a comp for Giddey, his game is really weird.

He's not the best defender, but he's a menace on the glass which helps your team close out possessions. He doesn't have a bag offensively, but still gets where he needs to and scores.

I can't even think of a comparable player with similar limitations and flaws to their game yet this effective.

All the non-shooting bigger guards or hybrid point forwards that come to mind all had superior athleticism, defense or handles

Giddey has only made 10 unassisted 3s this season
Luka has made 84...Luka has made more unassisted 3s than assisted this season

On step back 3s, Luka has attempted 194 of them to Giddey's 9

Their offensive games are not similar at all. Luka's bag and ball handling enables him to score by creating for himself at any spot on the floor. Giddey is not LIKE that
