Not to my eyes.

It looks like he kinda rushed in, letting his momentum carry him a good ways, then a terrible mockery of swimming got him further.
He definitely didn't get further than let's say 3/4's across before he was outta luck n then the panic set in.

An absolute pointless waste of a life.

That's what it looked like to me as well. Some momentum and frantic paddling got him a ways, and then reality hit that he could not swim, and went under.

I stopped watching when he stared to panic and go under. Completely idiotic friends that wanted social media views and gave him false confidence that one of them would rescue him if he started to drown.

There's personal responsibility here, but his friends are beyond massive morons.

It looked like he could swim (somewhat), but fatigued and drowned. Swimming is basically all resistance. If you haven’t been swimming regularly you aren’t just going to get in some water and swim distance. He also probably didn’t know how to effectively tread water, but if your muscles are really fatigued even treading water is a Herculean task. RIP to the breh.

Exactly. Not sure what vid brehs is watching....he got 3/4ths across. He got tired and panicked, cuz in the back of his mind he was probably worried about that exact scenario. And even from the convo before, it was clear people didn’t think he could do it cuz of endurance (kept calling him a fat ass) not cuz he couldn’t swim.

RIP to young bull, gotta respect how deadly water can be. They knew there was a good chance he wouldn’t be able to make it across, they should’ve had contingencies in place. :snoop:

If he was comfortable with the water, he would've been able to backstroke over once he gassed his first push.

That wasn't no swimmer ish.

That was some "can do alright in the pool if I'm next to the sides" type water work.

Shame tho.

He panicked breh. No one is calling him an expert swimmer, but he could swim.

Treading water is hard when you in good shape. Imagine the difficulty when you a big breh?

Weight ain't got much to do with it, you gotta know how to stay calm and let your body's natural buoyancy take hold.

Yokozuna could tread water as easily Michael Phelps with a calm head and the knowledge that he'll stay afloat as long as he don't panic and tense up.

I'm saying this as a nikka who could cosplay as the violator from Spawn with no padding, Breh. Ain't saying shyt just to say shyt.

Should've flipped over onto his back n floated for a bit, just to catch his breath n once good, got back to it.

This is what you do anytime you feel yourself starting to fatigue out in water of any depth and you need to catch yourself. While some would recommend going into the dead man's float :deadmanny: and then trying to execute a flip of sorts to turn yourself upsides down so you pop back up on ya back, that's a terrifying concept, especially if you already panting and taking in water.

Rolling over on your side with enough momentum will put you square on your back and you'll float once you just let go. It easy, but terrifying but I make sure to say this shyt, as an Aquatic Caribbean Breh for all you other cats who can't swim and too scared or not in a position to learn. :dead:

If cannot trad water you cannot swim period. Human beings are naturally buoyant, its a matter of keeping your head above water. Weak swimmers can tread water for hours in still waters. He could've just leaned back and floated to catch his breath.

It looked like this kid got tired and panicked. Avoiding that is like lesson 3 of learning how to swim.

Breh, if you don't panic, your body's natural buoyancy will keep you afloat for HOURS......

About the 2-minute mark is what I'm talking about. We had to swim from one side of the pool to the other just like that......in FULL gear including weapon, helmet, pack, etc.

Y'all are kinda wrong. There is a thing called being negative buoyant.

Coupled with the fact that the breh in the video was dense and probably wasn't athletic to where he had large natural lung capacity to fill with air to offset his density meant that he'd probably have a hard time just floating.

I'm a great swimmer, but I have a hard time treading. I can employ other mechanisms to stay afloat though.

David Goggins is also negative bouyant and said that he kept failing the Navy Seal test because he couldn't float and majority of the other black men couldn't either although they could swim.

There have been studies done that show more black people being negative buoyant because of our bodies densities and how fat is distributed around our bodies.

Twenty-six male swimmers (13 Blacks, 13 Whites) matched for age, weight, and stature were subjects in the comparison of anthropometric characteristics and horizontal and vertical buoyancies. Subjects were tested in a swimming pool in the horizontal position. The time necessary for the body to return to the vertical position defined horizontal buoyancy. Vertical buoyancy was the hydrostatic lift necessary to maintain the subject immersed to the nose. The results indicated similarities in arm span, trunk flexibility, and full inspiration and exhalation of Black and White subjects. However, there were differences in body fat distribution (P ≤ 0.05) and buoyancies (P ≤ 0.01), with Whites storing more fat and having better buoyancy than Blacks. Am. J. Hum. Another reason why black people need to learn to swim more. I was swimming since I was 5. Even when I was a big breh I could still swim fairly well and I have asthma

Like someone else said, a lot time swimming
And professional swimming instructor aren't Available in some Neighborhood and school systems.
