Freeport is cool, but you’d want to stay away from the north East section. The NW section is nice and the kids go to Baldwin Schools, which are a bit better than freeport. The south side of freeport is generally nice.

there are also certain sections of Westbury that are really nice. Those will be the parts along jericho turnpike and the Section east of The Wantagh parkway. If I were to buy a house, it would be there.

You should check the crime maps on trulia and drive through the neighborhoods during the day and night to get a feel for how it is.

stay away from Hempstead, Roosevelt and the New Cassel section of westbury. Trust me

Any particular reasons led you to not being a fan? Appreciate the recommendation.

Compared to Westchester, Rockland county and Northern NJ I do feel Long Island is the least welcoming suburb in the tri state area. Do feel like more bigots live there compared to the others.

with that being said Baldwin, NY is one community I like a lot

Are you familiar with any particular towns In Jersey? My cousin used to live out in East Orange and I definitely felt that hood vibe the times I'd visit him.

West Orange and Englewood, Teaneck are all nice

I’m not a fan of Long Island but if I could recommend a nice diverse town to you that is nice with a lot of black people it would be Baldwin, NY.


Freeport, NY doesn’t look so bad either.

My wife and I have been looking into transition from Brooklyn out onto Long Island, preferably Nassau County. We have two little boys( 2 and 5 years old) as well. Can anybody suggest decent, safe, diverse towns? I was thinking about Valley Stream. But that incident with the racist cac harassing that Black woman gave me pause.

Thanks. Do u live in LI? It's interesting u mentioned Westbury because I was thinking about Garden City. One of the parks we would go to is Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. Kind of pricy out there though. Definitely gonna avoid Hempstead though. My days as youngin at Jamrock and Nagasaki confirmed that for meGood looking on the driving through tip. It was way worse than it is now. I go there a lot for work and have a few friends from there, and though it isn’t as bad now, I wouldn’t live there.

theres parts in LI and in Jersey that'll do the job, but like you said, that commute

so many people I work with live in Jersey and LI.... we'll take clients out to dinner, and they're sitting in 90 min Ubers home and I'm walking to the crib

Nah, my fam that is on LI are in Jamaica Estates, St. Albans, Holliswood, and then further out in Sag Harbor.

My cuz that I tried connecting you to on LinkedIn grew up in St. Albans but now lives in Jamaica Estates.

And then I have family in Westchester. But they are a different sort.
