Maybe the corny colorways, but 1s with the OG or popular colorways were always hard to come by because they weren't released like how they are now. I'm talking early/mid 2000s. I had the bred 1s and the black blue joints.

1s and dunks also became popular because they were light and streamlined kicks that went with slim/skinny jeans. AF1s looked stupid with skinny jeans and they're heavy.

I know this cuz I used to rock breds, black/blue 1s and even Americans would comment on them in the streets so they weren't sitting on shelves at that point. Even from peeping Niketalk I know this is the case and I been on there since 2000.

Maybe you're referring to non-OG colorway 1s and regular general release dunks.

I am, but still it wasn't as bad as it is now. Even general releases aren't safe.

Not true, real sneakerheads didn't fukk the game up it was the internet and hyoebeasts who fukked it up. I have NEVER camped outside for ANYTHING and have NEVER purchased a shoe from a reseller. I'm old enough to remember when you could walk inside of a Footlocker, Finish Line etc. and cop your sneaker without waiting in line or even having to hit more than three stores in THE SAME MALL to get your size. Real sneakerheads are the ones who are saying "fukk this shyt we out".

With what I already have I step out and shyt on nikkas. I step out in some Pippens that haven't been released in over 5 years and nikkas is like "are those LeBrons" :mjlol:

fukk the sneaker game at this point, I done started fukking with watches now

Back in HS all I needed was a connect at Foot Locker to hold my shoes for me. And that was just so I wouldn't be on a wild goose chase and even then 99% of the time I never left the mall.

All this shyt nowadays is extra and what's crazy is that majority of the people buying up on the heat now were wearing Air Wacks back in the day :mjlol::francis:

Sneaker game been fukked for over a decade.

Once it got to the point where people were setting up literal tents to camp out for shoes, I said "I'm out, ya'll can have it". Now you have bots and "boutiques" where employees take stock and set it to the side for their friends and industry connects.

IMO it's not worth going through all that hassle for sneakers, or paying a 400% markup for sneakers that only cost $200 msrp. Vans and Chuck Taylors have been good to me, and they're always in stock when I need em.

Resellers have fukked everything up. Not just sneakers.

OP..

I order my kicks online pretty much exclusively.

The brands I rock can't be bought at a shoe store, with exceptions..

Tbh, I really don't need any more kicks. I have way too many pairs as it is, but right now, I am waiting on certain ones to be restocked (hopefully??)...

Once things became a hustle, all the love and fun in the sneaker culture went to shyt. I’ve been in it since 03. Back in the days you could talk down prices (maybe only $20 off but still). People helped each other. I’ve had a few folks buy me shoes and it was straight retail and I threw a $20 on top for their trouble. They didn’t ask for triple retail. Yes there were resellers but not to this degree where every shoe is flipped for profit. Everyone just following the trend. The sad thing is, Nike and the big foot companies are invested in this resale marketZ footlocker invested $100 million into the Goat app. Then promptly switch their whole raffle system to where no one gets wins. I’ve gotten travis Scott 4s, bred 1s, shadow 1s off those footlocker apps. Since they brought Goat haven’t won shyt but as soon as it sells out on footlocker the goat app lets me know the same kicks are available on their site for triple the price. Nike is even buying back gently used shoes and selling them back to people at almost retail. The game is rigged. People need will power. Like I said in the thread about the shoe palace employee getting randomly clapped at a shoe raffle, we the consumer need to take a stand and say no. It will mean missing out on some collabs and hype shoes but sacrifices must be made to make these shoe companies change. But it won’t happen. Because everyone are followers. They see Kanye or travis or ASAP Rocky rocking some shyt, it’s over. So I hit buy what I like at a price I feel comfy doing so and keep it moving. fukk a sneaker culture. I keep buying cuz im a literal addict. I can’t help it. I got a pair of carmines coming in now…

Y'all tripping, I been a sneakerhead for well over a decade.

I only buy reps now if I don't hit for retail.

The reps are so good if you know where to get them (reddit) most batches eventually are indistinguishable from the original.

Since I found repsneakers, I'll never pay resell again. Except for the grail pairs they don't even make, but even then, fukk paying over 200 let alone 1k

:mjlol:

If you care about the resale price, you're part of the problem.

I buy em to beat em.

And it's an easy insurance claim to boost :mjlit:

Sneaker culture took a turn for the worse when those Galaxy Foams dropped
I was there, and yeah it was insane. But I only hit for the lebron's and Kobe's.

But the first one I remember being crazy was Cool Grey 11s in 2010. There was like 2000+ people at Niketown. The line packed through 2 floors of the store.

And then around red Octobers is when bots were starting to pop off, prices started going crazy. It's been all downhill.
