I’m just a breh who occasionally buys sneakers, when I need them. But it ironic when sneaker collectors start bytching about the current state of affairs. Y’all created this monster
People been acting goofy, camping out for well over 15yrs probably. The sites just took it to another level but y’all planted the seeds way back by showing the brands there were hypebeast willing to do whatever for a release
Not true, real sneakerheads didn't fukk the game up it was the internet and hyoebeasts who fukked it up. I have NEVER camped outside for ANYTHING and have NEVER purchased a shoe from a reseller. I'm old enough to remember when you could walk inside of a Footlocker, Finish Line etc. and cop your sneaker without waiting in line or even having to hit more than three stores in THE SAME MALL to get your size. Real sneakerheads are the ones who are saying "fukk this shyt we out".
With what I already have I step out and shyt on nikkas. I step out in some Pippens that haven't been released in over 5 years and nikkas is like "are those LeBrons"

Maybe the corny colorways, but 1s with the OG or popular colorways were always hard to come by because they weren't released like how they are now. I'm talking early/mid 2000s. I had the bred 1s and the black blue joints.
1s and dunks also became popular because they were light and streamlined kicks that went with slim/skinny jeans. AF1s looked stupid with skinny jeans and they're heavy.
I know this cuz I used to rock breds, black/blue 1s and even Americans would comment on them in the streets so they weren't sitting on shelves at that point. Even from peeping Niketalk I know this is the case and I been on there since 2000.
Maybe you're referring to non-OG colorway 1s and regular general release dunks.

I remember ugly ducklings sitting on clerance shelves....I copped so many dunks that way back when I was in Uni. Cats didn't even understand why someone would buy dunks over AF1s at the time. But a few cats knew the deal.
I stopped collecting once shyt got retarded. Camping out for sneakers that were on clearance shelves previously. Nike making everything super limited and hypebeasts fukking up the game....as they do everything. The internet made all this shyt get out of control.

Then afterwards, yeah them shyts are gonna be super expensive obviously because they aren't making that particular one anymore. Make sense. It's not like Nike is constantly making Jordan 11's of one particular colorway. Gotta get it when it drops or just let it go.
When the Bred 11's dropped recently? What was it two years ago? I copped THREE because I knew I would want one for stepping out, one to rock, and ONE more in case one of them gets fukked up or I wanted to flip it, which I won't.

Ebay authenticating is bad too. A guy was selling jordan 1 dior lows, that he copped from dior, had video document proof and the ly called them fake. The bad part about is they sent them to him back with black mark ups all over them. The authenticator system is a hustle man.

Once it got to the point where people were setting up literal tents to camp out for shoes, I said "I'm out, ya'll can have it". Now you have bots and "boutiques" where employees take stock and set it to the side for their friends and industry connects.
IMO it's not worth going through all that hassle for sneakers, or paying a 400% markup for sneakers that only cost $200 msrp. Vans and Chuck Taylors have been good to me, and they're always in stock when I need em.
