What’s your reasoning for being unhappy at the current job? You never explained.

If the difference in both positions isn’t that great stay at your current job. You don’t wanna accept a role at another job and you hate it and wish you didn’t quit.

the girl is not your responsibility, they might let her go anyway, and she might not want to do system admin work.

Ultimately it’s up to you. Props that you are that important at a company at the tender age of 25.

Here's where you effed up.

You should've figured out whether you really wanted to leave or were using another employer to get a pay raise.

Heres what you run the risk of with the current employer: getting backfilled and replaced.
But you run no real risks with the other employer if you turn them down, the risk of taking them is possible getting into a worse job culture with better compensation.

I would take the new role based on the resume boost alone, plus you have a chance to grow.

Don't go looking for other jobs if you aren't willing take one that has a better offer. This can't just be about money either it should be about career growth, culture and additional benefits as well.

too unorganized and bullshyt that happens. So much politics involved that i dont have the energy to deal with. i have my own gripes with the parent company as well. Im just not sure its the right fit for me culturally.

There is a heavy "Grass is always greener" syndrome with getting a new job

9/10 it will be the same situation. The only different is the adrenaline of getting a new job that would last 2 months

yeah this is why I tell dudes stay discipline and make sure they vet the jobs they interview for when leaving a bad situation. When you hate your current job you will be in a rush to leave and potentially ignore red flags of the new company and end up in a worse or equally bad situation

i had like 50+ questions for every job interview i sat in. its why i shut down the other ones. But this one seems different. The company has nothing but 4 & 5 star reviews in about 40+ submissions and the location ill be working in has nothing but 5 stars although only like 5 submissions

If you we're disgruntled enough to look elsewhere in the first place. Getting paid more money won't magically fix all those issues. Never stay at a job after letting them know you had another offer. I did it once and ended up leaving 10 months even after a hefty raise.

There ain't no friends in the tech industry so who cares what happens to that chick unless she's family. Do you think she would turn down an opportunity for you if the roles we're reversed? With the skyhigh turnover rate in IT it's high unlikely you'll still be at either of these places in 10 years anyway. So only make moves to maximize your potential earnings. I could give a crap about any company or my coworkers. I'm all about this bread and would jump ship in a heartbeat if it means more money.

you right man, I think I’m getting in my own head with this. I think I gotta follow my gut with this one. Time to be selfish and make the right choice for me
