I wish I would have known about this years ago, but I now use Pine Tar soap(bar) for shampoo.
I read about it on a site for beard grooming, so apparently this is big product with bearded guys..but it's been the best shampoo I've ever used for the hair on my head
clears flakes, doesn't leave hair dry, manages to keep hair just feeling clean, works wonders for Black textured hair
*The reviews warned of the strong pine tar smell....but I've gotten used to it. I've never seen this in stores but go to any cosmetic section of drug store and ask for pine tar product..open jar so you know what the smell is like and whether you can deal with it or not

Ignore shampoo's and go with conditioner only.
Remember, Shampoo only strips away dirty and your natural oils....Conditioner adds a protective layer and protein. Stick with the conditioner. If your hair is still feeling dry, apply some lotion (a small amount) to it , and you should be fine. I stopped using shampoo years ago, I prefer my hair silky.

I just got hip to the whole Head & Shoulders Royal Oils line that was formulated for Black folks, I've dealt with itchy scalp(no flakes tho) for years and the shampoo and scalp creams are the best I've tried
@FreedMind when you get a haircut what guard number do you get for the top of your head, sides and back of the head?
Leave my hair silky smooth, smelling great , soft and give it that good shine
