Anybody who is black usually knows whats what..

If you (not you) have to ask where Ray Ray and Pookie came from...:francis:
Ah I gotcha. It legit puzzles me. In fact, like Lil Wayne, I was always "Lil Cashout" cause my dad was "Big Cashout". Anybody black has to have a ton of nicknames on deck, and pookie and ray ray is in everyone's family.

:mjlol:Nique, Nique lil anything. Lil shawn, lil mike, lil brian. Lil usually means there's a father or uncle with the same name in black families
Don't even got to be blood. I shared my name with one of the homies and even to this day I'm still "lil" to everybody that knows both of us.

Ray Ray just a nickname for Ray, Raymond, etc.

We got a habit of doubling names, words, etc. That’s cultural.

Pookie is an old ass nickname. Like I wouldn’t doubt it goes back to at least slavery times. Hell I got a great-great uncle whose LEGAL name was Bootsy.
:pachaha:

Has anyone ever done any cultural anthology on nicknames in AA culture? The diaspora? I’m sure if you dig enough you can find some links back to Africa.
