I was reading articles with people talking about how the leaders are out of touch and the jobs left etc. The funny part about that is when Thatcher was talking about ending subsidies of inefficient industries, privatizing BP, selling council houses and increasing the influence of banks and services she was wiping the floor with the electorate. Now that jobs are gone the "globalists" are the ones responsible because some immigrant from a poorer European country migrated there. The US/UK model of the 80s deliberately set in motion the type of service based economy that is biased towards more college educated people than intermediate skills used in manufacturing. There are also areas that rely a lot on EU funding that voted to leave. It's like those voters in Kentucky that rely on Medicaid that voted for Matt Bevin regretting their decision after he won.

They can declare independence, but they won't join the EU. Italy and Spain won't allow it.
that's why the EU didn't support scotland's independence plan in 2014 because the UK was a member. now the UK decided they don't want to be a member, so the EU doesn't care if scotland votes for independence, they'll welcome it in fact as a big fukk you to the UK. and those regions in italy and spain are nothing like scotland, wales and northern ireland because these are actual countries that choose to be united with England and can leave that union if their people see fit.

Are black people in Britain seen by the far-right, even the most integrated and "respectable" ones, seen positively?

Is this more about culture? Or race?

To be honest black people are not on the radar of the visible far-right. They're currently more concerned with European migrants and Muslims. However, this may be purely opportunistic and a way for them to gain legitimacy by latching on to concerns over immigration (the current face of which are Muslims and Euros). The far-right does have history of attacking both Asians (Pakistanis, Indians) and black people without discriminating between them.

But we must distinguish the far-right from populism. Neo-nazi views have always been and are very fringe...most people were horrified by any overt references to fascism because of this country's history.

We are in unchartered territory now though :mjpls:

They see themselves as Scotland. When Scotland had the referendum, all those people were waiting for Scottish to leave, in order for them to do the same.

Anyway, let's wait. Brexit was today, many things will happen in the next months. We're talking in the heat of the moment.
