thats like saying that all PGs automatically deserve more money than the rest of the team...and paying Jalen Suggs more than Banchero when their contracts are up. Instead of taking a stand the GMs just continue to inflate the QB value.

Outside of Burrow, Mahomes, Allen, Goff, Hurts, Lamar, Stafford, CJ eventually, maybe Dak and Jayden eventually...none of these QBs should be making more than $25M a year. NONE of em.

I remember when Stafford got his first extension in Detroit and people went crazy complaining that he hadn't won shyt, was a stat padder etc. Couple years later the deal was a bargain. End of the day this is simply how the QB market works. If you have a QB who passes the eye test and can be built around he's going to get paid whatever the market determines. Which means these guys are gonna keep hitting 50mil+. If you'd rather have a guy you can't build around and who isn't a long term solution - like Geno Smith - then sure you can pay him less than 50mil but you're not going to be in a good position going forward.

The Niners had no choice but to pay the man so I see no point in getting mad or even clowning the team. I'm not a Niners fan at all obviously, I'm a Lions fan. If I wanted to sabotage that franchise in order to help my squad would I have paid Purdy or let him walk? The answer is obvious: let him walk because it would hurt the Niners lol. Not paying would be stupid...the Niners are still in a Super Bowl window. Yea it's closing and will be over soon but they're gonna be in position to retool instead of rebuild since they have a clear cut franchise QB who you can build around.

Deal is already a "bargain" considering the cap went up so he's accounting for about 18% of the salary cap which is like 14th for starting QBs and he's better than that.

I can see 30-40M for QBs. I can accept them being the highest-paid player on their teams.

But that's it. You need to be cream of the crop/"don't matter what we don't have, I'll get it done with what we do have" to warrant anywhere near 50.

Like right now, Baker Mayfield's contract is a true bargain given what he's doing in Tampa Bay. Like, I don't think Hurts is a 50M a year QB, but stats do not tell his story all the way, and the fukk I look like arguing against a Super Bowl MVP about his bread?
