Not trying to debate, I’m just responding because you quoted me.

My Pops used to say “my momma always used to ask why are you watching tv? They made their money” so believe it or not, I grew up hearing this kind of talk… weekly it seems like. I get the idea, but we all spend our downtime doing something we find relaxing. I have rich friends and family who play video games, go to shows and sporting events or watch tv regularly. It didn’t stop them from getting bread.

My take, that you quoted, is based on the psychology behind boot camp and how the military can turn a scrawny kid into a trained killer who follows commands and does what he is told with no questions.

Just seemed like you unfairly painted him as a charlatan. Trying to break his audience down mentally in order to sell them something like some kind of grifter. Its almost as if you cant have a message, want to help people, and still want to make money from your knowledge. You can be completely genuine in wanting to help people better themselves, while cussing them out and chastising them. I think even the military in their mind are genuinely trying to build "better men". I dont think they view themselves as building crash dummies/fodder. Even though higher ups and the elites probably view them that way. Im perfectly okay with brainwashing/manipulating people for their own betterment.

If you can watch t.v and still figure it all out,i dont think thats who hes talking to. But if you havent figured it out yet,why are you "watching t.v". Other problem is he is old and not including all the other devices and distractions that people ACTUALLY use as opposed to t.v:mjlol:

We all need some leisure time. Let people watch sports.

Being broke doesn't mean you're losing.

When I got my first apartment after being in prison and then being homeless, all I had was a bed and a TV with an antenna (before digital age), some ramen cups and a bag of rice. And I was so happy to just have a home where I could lock my door, and food to eat
:blessed:

I was working 12 hours a day. Just wanted to come home, take a good bath and watch the ballgame

Television is detrimental. But everyone is different.

I don't watch TV, or streaming. I do watch fights though.

I don't play video games much anymore. Less than 2 hours a month, if that anymore.

I've wasted too much time doing shyt that serves no purpose.

How does a motherfukker put 300 hours into madden or 2k, and not know algebra or geometry, calculus? How have motherfukkers sat through a marvel movie marathon but not learned a second language or put that much time in at the gym or playing an instrument, learning to code or build.

There's a couple things in my life I'm still working toward, want to accomplish, and they are things that will take 10, 15, 20 years if i live long enough.

On anytime between now and then or on my deathbed im not going to say "i wish i watched tv" "oh man, i wanted to see that movie...."

I'm not broke, but this is a dumb take. Everyone needs a distraction.

I disagree. I think some people have too many distractions, what they need is focus. Mfs are distracted by the things they have to do because they have so many things to do. People spend their lives chipping away, treading water, taking breaks, rewarding themselves for making it so far. More people die not having fulfilled or met their potential but had fun doing it, took breaks and allowed distractions.

And that's not a good thing.

I used to sell cable packages by the neighborhood.

Most of the most expensive cable packages were sold in broke ass neighborhoods. A lot of rich neighbourhoods got basic packages or nothing but internet

That shyt was an eye opener.
That's because rich people have money for more expensive pastimes

Does he mean poor or broke? One is having low income and the other is mismanaging money. People with high incomes can end up broke.

If he means poor that’s a dumb take.

I work in finance and I disagree with him. All the white VPs and managers are die hard American sports fans.

The dudes you talking about were just flat out bums. At the end of the day whether you are a bum or not you will always find joy in some fort of entertainment.
they are doing that shyt to build more connections...to make small talk with other influential people or to show themselves as higher status...warriors games are filled with this type
dusty brehs don't need to be memorizing injury reports, getting heartbroken over losses or spending thousands of dollars on tickets or merchandise

What kind of convention or conference has this as subject matter :mjlol:

To one of his points, I worked with a guy who has a World Series ring and he admitted to players hearing fans say we is ridiculous. When I told him if “we” don’t tune in “the team” doesn’t get paid. He eventually came off the take but I could tell he didn’t like it.
