Television is detrimental. But everyone is different.

I don't watch TV, or streaming. I do watch fights though.

I don't play video games much anymore. Less than 2 hours a month, if that anymore.

I've wasted too much time doing shyt that serves no purpose.

How does a motherfukker put 300 hours into madden or 2k, and not know algebra or geometry, calculus? How have motherfukkers sat through a marvel movie marathon but not learned a second language or put that much time in at the gym or playing an instrument, learning to code or build.

There's a couple things in my life I'm still working toward, want to accomplish, and they are things that will take 10, 15, 20 years if i live long enough.

On anytime between now and then or on my deathbed im not going to say "i wish i watched tv" "oh man, i wanted to see that movie...."
Making money usually involves being born into capital, having a talent that’s considered valuable, having a skill or knowledge that’s considered valuable, coming up with an idea that solves a problem. Lastly knowing the right people.

Abstaining from entertainment isn’t something that leads to wealth. There’s a lot of people that push that grind culture stuff and it’s a pipe dream. Rich people don’t have to work hard their money works for them harder than they ever could.

Telling broke people not to watch TV is laughable. There are kids born into money that did nothing to deserve it that watch TV. Just cause they were born into a different family that makes them worthy?

It's a dumb take considering it may be free to watch sports on TV

This man is a dumb ass. Watching football gives motivation and teaches life lessons. It teaches to keep fighting when times are tough and teaches to have grit in the face of adversity. Some black folks are so concerned with "winning" that they think being successful is all there is to life. This man deserves to be decked in the face for being a dumb fukk.

Nah. If mfs can watch 8 seasons of game of thrones, 73 episodes, which is a little over 60 hours of "entertainment"

But they can't study something basic to better their position in life like a math course to get a degree which will get them a better job, or 60 hours learning to code, or internet security, fukking 60 hours of using Excel...anything that would improve their skills or enhance their life...

Those people are making bad choices.

So all you do is work study and the coli

Work, read/study/research, play music, workout. My "entertainment" is playing music. It's something i enjoy, it's a skill that gets better the more I do it, it's not a necessity though, like if i don't do it i don't feel bad for missing a day or two. I never miss work, i always get some type of workout in, and daily i read/research study. I have reminders and apps that help with that. Even if i don't feel like it and it's only 5 mins. Well, that's 5 mins I put toward it. And even if i only do 5 mins a day everyday for the week, that's 35 mins that week.

I have ps5, Xbox x, switch, in my house we have all the subscription services (Amazon,Disney,Netflix,Hulu, paramount). I do watch fights. I watched the Australian open while working on a project.

You know how a lot of people make money or had money and they have nothing to show for it? That's how i feel like with time. Like mfs really be 30 with no skills. It's fine if you didn't do well in school, if your parents never got you in sports or forced you to learn an instrument, or whatever but if your 30 and you haven't discovered things on your own, lit a fire on your own ass then that's on you.

Facts.

I'm not gonna say broke people shouldn't watch TV, but I get the gist of his message and what he was trying to say.

Maybe a better way to put it would be, if you're broke and you really don't enjoy being broke, spend more time educating and improving yourself and less time entertaining yourself.

It's not even about being financially broke.

There's more to life than paying the bills and having a little more left over and/or not having to worry.

I know people with skills. I know women that can knit and sew, i got a boy who's made bed frames and kitchen tables out of wood, people who can garden and cultivate, musicians, writers, artists, people that can fix things, build things.....you don't just know that shyt, yeah a lot of that shyt is privileged, they might have learned it from their parents or grandparents but some learned on their own.

People have decades of experience, knowledge with these skills, or passions and those aren't their primary jobs/careers although some have made money off of it.

There are really mindless zombies out there that are broke financially and broke mentality and in their lifestyle. Just 30 for no reason at all, no skills, no talents, no experience. Just treading water. But they've seen all the marvel movies! Theyve seen game of thrones! They put in 800 hours on gta5! They've beaten every call of duty! (shyt if "entertainment" is your passion then pursuit it to the point where you can start your own YouTube or twitch or write your own books or magazines, start your own channel on movies or Hollywood gossip).

All facts.

At the end of the day though I am actually cool with people doing whatever they want to do with their lives because technically nobody on this earth asked to be here :manny: If you want to spend your life watching TV do you :manny:

But I definitely tend to agree with folks who like to be a little more intentional with their time. Different strokes :ehh:

Nothing wrong with broke people like myself finding joy in entertainment as long as they understand it's entertainment. His larger point should've been broke people shouldn't only show interest in things that serves as entertainment but also things that can improve their financially situation in a realistic and legal manner. I can't tell you how much times, I got completely blindsided by cheap and wasteful entertainment instead of studying the things that actually affect my life. Yes, there's all these algorithms designed to distract you from doing what your suppose to do but his main point is about accountability.

You sound like one of those rich white Republican senators that shames common people for buying iPhones like that's why you're poor because you buy iPhones and shyt.

Class mobility especially in America is difficult as fukk. For the vast majority they aren't going to be able to move too far away from the class they were born into without some sort of good fortune.

You talking about YouTube and Twitch like it's easy. For every 1 person that makes it big on there you got 1000s of people who go nowhere. It's more about luck even there. Maybe you get a meme and get exposure or maybe a big YouTuber sees your channel and decides to give you a pop.

Go on Amazon Kindle Unlimited and see how many people writing books and check to see how many of them you actually know as authors.

These people you shaming these are the people cooking your meals, stocking the shelves at the grocery store or check you out in line. People who straight up get exploited by a society that tries it's damndest to have a starved working class to always be able to dip into and plug into these jobs. A society that overinflates the cost of education, that pushes the cost of housing to absurd levels so people can't really afford home ownership. A society that holds a majority of it's people down so they can have people to constantly exploit.

These people come home from busting their ass working dead end jobs just to survive and they they gotta deal with people shaming them about trying to unwind for a bit before their next shift. Meanwhile people like Elon Musk and Donald Trump are born into wealth and don't have to grind or do anything to deserve it. Yet common folk have to be shamed and lectured.

Nah, you're misinterpreted my words. I'm not shaming anyone.

I don't care who has an iPhone or not. In fact i want people to have smartphone because you can expand your mind and skills on them, but mfs would rather watch tiktoks and play bubble blast.

As far as YouTube and twitch you don't have to make money. I play in adult leagues. We aren't trying to make money (and we don't) but we share what we do with others, anyone can come watch us play and when it opens up there are usually a few people that join and they say "I saw you guys playing, looks fun" "i used to play back in the day, thought I'd try to get back into it"

I'm not shaming anyone. I want peoples lives to be enriched and fulfilled. I don't think consuming hours upon hours of entertainment is going to do that. I think a lot of people spend their lives not meeting their potential and not applying themselves and i don't think they use their time wisely.

I don't even hate entertainment like that. shyt if you can watch every episode of game of thrones while on a treadmill. That's an hour a day (i think, I've never seen the shyt) for 70 days or some shyt...that's awesome. Just walk and watch the episode. I know people that are unfulfilled don't enjoy it. If you're fat, you know your fat and don't want to be that way for whatever reason. If you're dumb or uneducated or unskilled, you know it and don't want to be that way for whatever reason. I want to push you toward your goal. Us sitting around normalizing mediocrity and being broke ain't making anyone better. "yeah he weighs 320 but fukk it let him eat that pizza and those nachos and donuts." "She never went to college, she works an entry level job, barely has any money month to month but fukk it, let her enjoy her real housewives." He's been enjoying the junk food for years, she's been enjoying her real housewives for 9 seasons. When are things going to change for the better?

shyt one of my favorite videos games is the hunting simulator call of the wild. But with the time I can sink into walking around quietly, waiting, setting up shots i can literally go hunting for real. What's a better experience playing a game or doing something real?
