This team would've won 12 games without Kobe :mjlol:

LOS ANGELES — Shannon Brown set career highs with 27 points and 10 rebounds while starting in place of
the injured Kobe Bryant,
and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors 104-94 on Tuesday night.

Andrew Bynum added 21 points and seven rebounds in his return to the lineup after missing two games because of
a bruised right hip that still gives him discomfort. He was 8-for-11 from the field in 30 minutes.

The defending NBA champions have won all four games they've played without Bryant, who also was unable to play in the All-Star game.

Four different players have led the Lakers in scoring during his absence, including Ron Artest, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom, who had 18 rebounds and eight points against the Warriors.

Here the Lakers had a stretch of 4-0 without Kobe, and they had four different players lead them in scoring in each of those games, and you're telling me they'd only win 12 games over the course of the entire season without him?

Tier 1 - GOATS:
MJ
Lebron

Tier 2 - Near GOATs:
Kareem
Magic
Bird
Duncan

Tier 3 - Didn’t get to Tier 2 because he was lazy, but better than Tier 4:
Shaq

Tier 4 - Solidly Top 10:
Kobe
Hakeem
Steph

Tier 5 - Ring or two, but never got to Tier 4 level:
KG
Dirk
Isiah Thomas
Dr. J
Moses
Kawhi
Admiral

Tier 6 - Another FMVP will vault them into Tier 4, otherwise they’ll settle into Tier 5:
Jokic
Giannis

Tier 7: got an MVP and had a productive career, but no ring:
Barkley
Mailman
KD
Harden
Russ
Iverson
I don't agree with a lot of this (which is largely debateable), but putting KD in Tier 7 with Malone, Harden, Russ and A.I. is nasty work.

I get that you don't value his rings with GS, but he's proven to be one of the greatest playoff performers we've seen, not just in an NBA environment, but on the international stage as well, and why you may not take his FIBA play into account here, you should use it as a reflection of how great of a player he is, in general, and how nobody in the modern era has shown the ability to get a bucket, at that level, for that length of time.

Those four aforementioned players you put in the same tier as him are not even remotely in his realm (in this context).

12 is hyperbole, but they wouldn't be contenders.

You said Pau wason bad teams, thats bullshiit. He got to the playoffs and never won. Pau was always respected, he's just not carrying a team anywhere.

Steph or Oscar or West are the greatest scoring points ever and honestly, no one is close to them...

No.

O and Logo were not pure PGs,
and Steph doesn’t go inside like Zeke did. He was scoring in the paint among the trees.

The only other pure points in the same breath as Zeke AFA that are Magic and Young Derrick Rose
- and they were damn near double Zeke’s size.

There is no goat in team sports. This remains the absolute dumbest fukking debate and talking point I've ever seen in the history of sports. There are different eras and rule changes that allow scoring to become easier(and this is in football AND basketball), some player have better coaches, some players have better GMs, and some players have BETTER TEAMMATES. To put it in perspective, you can 2 guys both averaging the same amount of points, but one could have non- hall of fame teammates and a shytty coach. There is a reason you only have 2 player in the history of the NBA to win a title without another hall of fame teammate. If it was that easy, then everyone would be doing it. Then you have the Jordan fans who basically contradict themselves every time they open their mouth. On one hand they say Jordan didn't win until he had a team around them, then a few sentences later, they try to discredit pippen and his teammates acting as if he grabbed 11 random dudes off the street and won 6 titles. No such thing as a goddamn goat in team sports. Most stupid talking point ever.

Oscar isn't a pure PG but Zeke is :comeon:

Oscar was Chris Paul if you made him 5 inches taller.

You typing just to type.

This might be blasphemy but it's hard for me to see the all time greatness of Isiah Thomas.

That's just me. There have been so many guards over the years that in my mind, loom larger.

Your right

It IS blasphemy and somebody needs to clean your filthy mouth out with soap.

How important is winning a championship? I mean you have players that have skill and right there with these greats but they don’t have the championships? As good as Bird was in the 80s you gotta mention Dominique.
Those Hawks teams was good they just couldn’t beat the Celtics though. Does that take away from Dominique as a player?:jbhmm:

Nique is my personal favorite player of all time. Him never getting passed the second round hurt his all time status when we’re talking about Top 20 candidates.

In this type of convo he’s in the regrets category. If we’re talking pure skill as a player he’s easily top 35

Ummm, peak for peak, how is Bron definitively better than Bird? :dwillhuh:Bird's peak numbers are just as good (if not better)than Bron's without him EVER getting the benefit of having an offense completely centered around him.

And while we're at it, Kareem always gets pushed to the top of the GOAT convos but his career is very similar to KD in that they're both great hoopers with questionable leadership. 5 rings with Magic (who was a finished product practically out the gate) and 1 ring with Oscar is great but how would it have looked if he ever was the sole person his teams looked to follow? KD has had a hard time since leaving GS and that's ignoring COVID messing up the Brooklyn run. If Kareem was the sole leader, I think he'd put up numbers without winning...
