As someone who worked in long term care at skilled nursing facilities dementia is one of the scariest things in existence. It robs once proud folks of their dignity. I have realized I don’t won’t to live like that. Unless there are drastic medical advancements most people shouldn’t live into their late 80s or 90s

and that’s not solely because of dementia, failing bodies are just as scary. Make sure you’re living right now taking care of your bodies. I’ve had plenty of residents tell me humans shouldn’t be living this long . One who was 90 even told me she wished she had died around 77

I think we selfishly want our grandparents to live into their 100’s but most live a miserable life. Also if your folks are old in a skilled nursing facility make sure they have a do not resuscitate order on their chart. One of the worst things is having your 90 lbs granny thrown in the floor when her heart stops and the nurses have to break her chest doing chest compressions

As a nation hell, as citizens of the world we should violently reject anti-intellectualism and push for scientific breakthroughs
