That’s what I was dealing with with my grandmother

The super sadness still hasn’t hit me yet about her passing cause I’m more relieved she ain’t gotta go through that no more….no one should have to endure that
Sorry for your loss. Do you ever worry about yourself sometimes? I hear that it's genetic :mjcry:

Not being able to continue in the craft you love must be heartbreaking.

Grandma goign through it now.

She's at the point whe she has angry moments now:mjcry:
Mine went through it for several years before she passed. I didn't have to experience it much because I didn't live near home, but everytime I came home it was heatbreaking. She always thought I was her oldest son. She would ask me the same question 10 times in a row and I answered her every time like it was the first time. She was always cursing my uncles wife out cause she didn't like her and her filter was gone. It was hard to see such a smart women who helped raise me end up like that. :mjcry:

As someone who worked in long term care at skilled nursing facilities dementia is one of the scariest things in existence. It robs once proud folks of their dignity. I have realized I don’t won’t to live like that. Unless there are drastic medical advancements most people shouldn’t live into their late 80s or 90s:hubie: and that’s not solely because of dementia, failing bodies are just as scary. Make sure you’re living right now taking care of your bodies. I’ve had plenty of residents tell me humans shouldn’t be living this long . One who was 90 even told me she wished she had died around 77:francis:
I think we selfishly want our grandparents to live into their 100’s but most live a miserable life. Also if your folks are old in a skilled nursing facility make sure they have a do not resuscitate order on their chart. One of the worst things is having your 90 lbs granny thrown in the floor when her heart stops and the nurses have to break her chest doing chest compressions :snoop:
As a nation hell, as citizens of the world we should violently reject anti-intellectualism and push for scientific breakthroughs:ufdup:
Whew! Thank you for this. I used to work as a caregiver several years ago, and a lot of the patients did have a DNR. I never understood it until you just said this. Also, it reminds me of my son’s father telling me that his great grandmother lived until the day before her 105th birthday, and she would always tell him that she was ready to go because she was tired of just laying there waiting for people to do things for her.

Same thing happened to mine before she passed. Luckily I wasn't there to watch it in real time but the few last moments we interacted were very :to:, especially knowing the life of abuse and suffering she lived since she was a kid.

dementia is the woat :to:
Grandfather had it and mannnm that sucked so badly.

Last time I went up there to see him, he asked me and my wife the same questions over and over again. It was so depressing.

Next thing I know, he had to be taking care of by my uncle. Dude spent his last year's in diapers and acting like a full blown baby.

Found out he died by a private investigator :francis:

Dude was a demonic piece of shyt, but he meant well....

He introduced me to wrasslin.
