As someone with a BA in English it;s fukking worthless. The only thing people do when they know you got an english degree is come to you first when they ask "How do you spell......."

op, seriously, change that shyt to nursing or something that will get you a real job. a degree in english is not necessary to be a writer. shyt, i wrote two novels and i don't have a degree in that bullshyt. if you are just trying to write, then you do not need a freaking degree to do so, you just need to read, write, then have others critique that shyt, then edit. that's all. you also can teach english overseas without an english degree. unless you are trying to teach english, then that degree is probably next to useless.

If this is what you like, don't change your major to what others think you should do (tech, engineering, etc...) However, you must put 10x the effort. Leverage resouces, network with professionals, volunteer and intern at gigs that focus on English major. Search up and down for internships by fortune 500 because I have seen plenty of internships that pay consider English, STEM, and business majors. What school do you attend? you should also network with professors.

I was going to suggest you get into copywriting but why do you need an english degree for that? Complete waste of time. Learn how to write long form direct marketing sales letters. Work on some copywriting gigs on upwork and after a year or two of honing your skills you can then charge $10,000 plus royalties.
Honestly fukk the english degree, if you're good writer you won't need it and your skills will sell itself.
change your major... I have an English degree... it's not too applicable unless you want to be an English teacher

If you want to write/work in media...get a journalism degree...much more practical
the opportunities for a traditional English degree were dying 7 years ago when I graduated...I can't imagine where they will be 7 years after you graduate.
