Only 2 ways to gain muscle on a deficit

1. you just started lifting for the first time in your life, or haven’t lifted in years.

2. Roids

I haven't lifted seriously in years so that is definitely playing a part. But its also cause I'm fasting. When you fast your body cranks up production of growth hormone and stem cells. This is probably also whats helping me grow muscle and recover.

:dahell: Are you saying I contradicted myself with the 48-72 hours?

Sometimes shyt happens in life and you have to cut your fast short. Last week I had to take a friend out to dinner who just came to town so it cut my typical 72 hour fast down to 48 hours. This happens from time to time. To compensate I will fast for 96 hours this week. So on average I do 72 hour fasts. But sometimes shyt in life can cut it to 48 and to compensate I throw in a 96 a week later.

Breh trying to make everyone kill they self :mjlol:

As long as you have some body fat on you you'll be fine fasting for 3 days. This is only dangerous if you are sub-5% body fat. This is how our ancestors used to live. You think people 100,000 years ago were eating everyday? Hunter-gatherers who live today typically go days without eating as they track the animals they are trying to kill.

Fasting has so many health benefits its insane.

Lifting on a 3 day fast :mjlol:

When your body is in ketosis you have just as much energy as when you eat. I actually get my best lifts in when I'm 48 hours into a fast. I'm typically super energized cause I'm in full blown ketosis.

Fasting is what our bodies evolved to do. You think our bodies wouldn't operate at full capicity when our ancestors were hunting for food after not eating for a few days? If anything the body would make sure its operating at its full capacity after having not eaten for awhile so that it can ensure it gets the next meal.

We evolved to fast. Don't get it twisted.

what are your meals like when you finally do eat?

I've recently been going to buffets and filling my stomach in with as much nutritous food as possible in a 2 hour time frame. I start of with lots of scrambled eggs. Then get into the chicken and meats. I'll also eat high carb fatty foods like Pizza, Burgers, and Mac n Cheese. Get in some greens, sweet potatoes, and fruits. Essentially whatever the fukk I want. I don't count macros or calories. The only thing I try to do is make sure I'm getting in as much protein as possible. Other than that its just about being full as hell on that feeding day cause I know I ain't eating again for 3 days.

how do you do it. If I don’t eat for 8 hours I feel like I’m dying

That's because your body has adapted to eating all the time. What people don't understand is that our bodies are controlled by hormones. For example, the hormone Ghrelin is what tells your body you are hungry. Ghrelin levels rise during those time periods you typically eat. If you have conditioned your body to eat every 8 hours then Ghrelin levels will rise every 8 hours telling you that you are hungry and its what causes you to feel hungry. The great thing about our body is it can adapt quickly to change. So when I first started fasting, my goal was to fast for 7 straight days. I made it to 3.5 days before I had to quit. That first fast was so brutal. Like you I felt hungry. I was tired and had zero energy. I was in bed most of the time. No way I could go to the gym let alone get a good workout in. The reason this first experience with fasting sucked is cause my body wasn't used to it.

Thing of it like this. Say you haven't worked out in years. You decide to go the gym one day and do an intense workout lifting as much as you can. How do you think you'll feel that next day? You know damn well you'll be sore as fukk. That's cause you shocked your body doing something it wasn't used to. Now think about how you'll feel after your next trip to the gym? You will most likely not be as sore. In fact over time your body will adapt so quickly to this workout that you'll have to crank up the intensity or weights just to get a burn. Same thing happens when you fast. Your body isn't used to it so that first experience will suck. But after awhile your body will get used to it. Your body will adapt to the lack of continous food intake by going into "ketosis" (which is simply a fancy way of saying that your body will begin to use stored body fat from energy rather than the food you feed it). Because most of us eat so frequently our bodies have never had to go into ketosis. When you fast you shock your body into ketosis. After your body learns it can do this the first time it gets easier everytime after that.

With regard to hunger, I'm sure most on here think that by fasting for 3 days at a time I must be hungry all the time. In fact the opposite is true. I'm actually never hungry. When your body enters ketosis it supresses the hunger hormone Ghrelin. And without Ghrelin signals going to the brain you won't feel hungry at all. I could actually fast longer than 72 hours on a regular basis. I simply choose to eat again every 3 days for muscle building purposes. So its all about forcing your body to adapt to a new lifestyle. Once you do that it becomes incredibly easy.

How come? My body has changed dramatically in 2 months. I've gotten crazy lean while maintaining the same strength. I have more energy. My mental acuity has improved. People say I even look younger.

This fasting focused lifestyle is the best decision I've ever made when it comes to my health.
Breh, you're telling me you're eating only one meal every three days, don't drink any water 48 hours at a time and you're still maintaining a regular gym routine? These are either major :duck:or you're going to end up in a hospital for all the stress you're putting your body through.
