If that's the case, he needs to:camby:. I thought he sounded inspired on Watch the Throne, and maybe that was just me but I figured he'd have some fire for his next solo and then it came and went.

I love Hov's music and I agree with you 100% but Dude needs to do spot duty. A verse here and a collab album there.

Jay-z is a 40 year old rich rapper. How artistic do y'all expect him to be

Nas just made an album 18 months ago about growing old, being a father, and his woman troubles. Real grown man shit.

Meanwhile Jay still pretends like he's 25 talking about drug dealing he did 25 years ago. :camby:

No I'm a grown man with real life problems and I don't relate to any rapper :duck: No matter how young or old.

How old are some of you dudes because music just doesn't do it for me no more including classic Nas, PAC, Jay stuff. Maybe I just grew up I'm only 27

The ironic thing is how their lives are polar opposites.

Nas...

nuts all up in a industry ho (arguably twice).
Has a daughter on instagram wilin out takin after her mother
Marries a psycho broad that takes him for half
Gets caught up with the IRS coz he owe taxes (hustlin backwards :lolbron:)
Doesn't own his own shyt

Meanwhile Hov...

Gets married to Beyonce and THEN has a baby.
Pays his taxes
Owns his masters

So it looks like one nikka like to preach about grown man shyt while the other nikka is actually livin it. :troll::steviej:

Word.

Nah, most rappers have that hustler shyt but they also give back or talk about being down for their squad. Taking all of Jay's lyrics more or less seriously than the next man doesn't make much sense. Give him as much criticism as you give the next man if you're going that route (but we know he gets way more). But being delusional is a guaranteed L. I mean seriously, they have really convinced themselves that based on their small circles and on this board that somehow generation Y doesn't heavily fukk with Jay-Z :dead: @Broletariat @SHAQAVELLI ...these people honestly believe that Jay-Z isn't a God to the vast majority of people in our age group. :russ:
You're a young Black liberal elitist wannabee from the Northeast...

We know that you and your peers worship at the alter of Sean Carter...You're actually his base...

But not everyone your age is monolithic...

This was put together quite well. This what's inspired Nas. Jay has nothing to rap about.

He just had a kid for the first time. He's now a sports agent. He just sold his share in the Nets. His wife is the biggest pop star on the planet.

He has plenty to rap about. He just can't do it for more than a couple lines.

Trials and tribulations often makes for the best song material. No coincidence Life is Good was Nas's best album since Stillmatic.

Here My Dear was some of Marvin Gaye's best work because of the shyt he went through with Anna Gordy.

Lol this is what Jay raps about and nikkas are tired of hearing it. We want that struggle shyt not that happy Blu ivy, king B, and I play for the team I own stuff. We need new material not the hottest chick wearing my chain.

Exactly. Dude has PLENTY to rap about...going through hard times isn't the only thing that breeds content. He hasn't truly gone through hard times financially since 98 but he rapped about plenty from 98-03 and even on Kingdom Come, he had a lot to rap about he just didn't do it well. American Gangster was a dope concept album but on these last two joints, he has rapped about an assortment of topics, from really crossing over, being a black man in a business world filled with white people, his daughter, his wife, his flirtation with wanting his old life back but relishing in his new life, etc..he just isn't doing it in a dope way:manny:

Inspiration is the word of the day fellas. What inspired Jay to make American Gangster? The Denzel movie right. Y'all ain't trying to hear how Blu ivy makes him moist inside he ain't paying child support. A nanny is raising that baby he has no motivation.

And that beyonce shyt is getting on my nerves

Man, if Jay can't make a dope song about being a father for the first time, especially raising a girl knowing how bad his relationships have been with women prior to beyonce, then I don't know what to say about dude. "You know how I am around girls, I ruin them all" is a line I would constantly have in my head if I was him and raising a daughter. There's a lot of pathos and emotion there but of course, he does nothing with it
