Philly bouls, Trust the Process
Buddy may demand a trade from Sacramento, they benched him and clearly aren't valuing him too highly

Al + picks for Buddy+Bjelica
Kings get the 5 they need(Holmes is the only 5 on the roster) and seriously needed veteran leadership + future draft assets. Horford can mentor and teach those boys how to win. He's still a good player when he's at the 5. They move on from a messy situation with Buddy and make a clear invest in Bagley as their PF of the future removing a possible logjam that he and Bjelica would've created.

We get a ton of shooting and offensive punch on the wing and at the stretch 4. I think Bjelica will age well, and Buddy, while not young, is 27 and much more in timeline than Al. Look at the new rotation:
Ben/Buddy/JRich/Tobias/Embiid
____/Matisse/Kork/Bjelica/____

All the sudden we have a ton of shooting on the roster, the offense will be so much better, and we still have the pieces to be great defensively. Buddy is a proven easy 20ppg very good high volume 3PT shooter, and Bjelica is making 45%3PT as well. Buddy is 10th in the league in pull-up 3PAs, and 2nd among that top 10 in percentage adding a great shot-creating dimension to the roster in addition to all the spacing he provides.

Notice how the spacing has immediately improved

This is making me think.... I always wonder why spacing is so bad as it doesn't have to be that difficult if Brett Brown ran an offense wirh more than 3 people at any given time.

To me this is still the main problem.

But is it possible that footspeed is also part of the issue? Horford and Harris are both not very fast runners. On the other hand the spacing that Tysse supplies on the floor by running around is very obvious.

I just hadn't thought before that maybe it's just Al is too damn slow to get into space now. Which is consistent to how it feels watching him play.

It's spacing and ball movement...
When we don't move the ball and our guys try to play one on one, we struggle to score. We don't have guys that can break guys down off the dribble.

There was a stretch two seasons ago, when we looked the best under Brett, sharing the ball and running.

People wanna say we lost a bunch of offense with JJ and Jimmy leaving, but even last year our offense struggled with them guys here. Jimmy refused to shoot corner 3's when he was open. That BS dribble hand off / high screen game with JJ and Embiid that we all hated, wasn't working either.

It also hurts that Josh and Tobias are not very good passers, so Ben has to play pretty much the whole game.

Are there any stats for how many off ball screens a team runs?

I swear Bwett hasn't gotten to that chapter in his copy of "Coaching for Autists"

Josh can be decent in the P&R with Ben. But Tobias is an awful passer. Good point on that period when Jimmy refused to shoot threes to piss off Brett. I completely forgot about that.

Jimmy was "preserving his energy" for the 4th quarter :skip:
He did hit some big shots down the stretch in a few games, but generally Tobias was scoring more and Ben was a better defender than he was.

I think he was just being the difficult dikk head that he is...

I remember people were calling the radio saying we shouldn’t offer him the max and wanted to trade him before the deadline last season. I still wish Jimmy was here but I love how our fanbase be having selective amnesia. The national media is worse acting like he came in to be the lockerroom leader. When he said himself he wasn’t a leader he just played his game. The person who was always vocal last season was JJ. Jimmy really didn’t start playing full effort until the playoffs started.

I remember this and it's part if the reason why Tobias was offered the max and it was in the end a mutual separation between Jimmy and the Sixers. But the narrative quickly changed once our road troubles came to a head this season. Last year we still went through long scoring droughts and we completely fell apart when Joel wasnt on the court.

Even with our issues this season i feel like in the grand scheme of things we're much better off, especially considering the type if offense that Brett likes to run. Really, I believe all Brett had to do was to bite the Bullet and let Horford come off the bench and run the second unit. Now we'll always have a decent unit on the court and it better maximizes everyone's role. Tobias is much better in that 4 position
