I used to frequent the one at the Manhattan Mall but once I got broadband fall of 99 and discovered newsgroups and IRC it was a wrap. Last 2 cd's i bought was Capital punishment and then years later the massacre special edition due to having all the videos on a dvd That disco inferno video :krs::noah:

Had it like 5 weeks before release due to newsgroups.

I know I had it before the album actually dropped…coulda been days or weeks tho…I was fully on the internet by that point and was using DSL…still went and bought a copy tho

Waiting in line to buy Wu Tang Forever. They kept them behind the counter :lolbron: . You could also buy concert tickets, and they had a good selection of magazines to boot.

I'm not as much of a nostalgia junkie as a lot of people my age, but kids today will never know how much of an experience this was :wow:

Buying an album in store was an amazing experience. Hoping the shyt wasn’t sold out. Finding it. Looking at the front cover. Taking it to the cashier. Tearing all that plastic off to see the back cover. Popping that bytch in while looking at the liner notes to see who produced what tracks and who got a shout out.

I remember staring at tribe called quest Midnight Marauders album cover thinking how dope it was they put other rappers on the cover and going face by face to see who I recognized.

The world changed for the worse with streaming IMO. It’s too easy to produce so people put minimum effort into the “artform”.

We used to do the same with movies too. They had all the old school martial arts joints
