Yeah that shyt is really disheartening, but I'm gonna make sure I do my part in fixing that. I'm gonna try to find a business mentorship program for black folks and join.

Even Hispanics have been able to come in and build and own things in their and some black communities. It shouldn't have take our generation to come in start such programs. Its hard to understand how it could get to such a point. The black community are spenders but we literally don't own anything in our community. Even local urban wear stores are white owned. Liquor stores white owned, dry cleaning/laundry stores asian owned. We own barbershops and salons but outside of that not much.

Dude consider the number of products that are out there for black women to emulate other ethnicities and hairtypes.

Its really not that surprising

It must be inaccurate considering black people are 13% of the population. I'm guessing they're only looking at certain products.

We used to have our own shyt during segregation, but that was out of necessity for obvious reasons. Integration really destroyed that entrepreneurial side of our community. I was watching a documentary about Thomas Sankara and he was trying to get the people of Burkina Fasso to be producers and not consumers and in an attempt to break away from neo colonialism. That shyt got him assassinated :wow:

The lack of black ownership should bother you. Our communities and opportunities for future generations would be more promising if we owned more business in general and especially in our communities. Black folks have been in this country and have suffered more. I would like to see them own the business in their own communities, particularly businesses that profit of the money of its own people rather than other races who don't give a fukk about them. Some of these other owners whether Asian, White, Latino, Indian etc. don't really care about the community and will keep future business opportunity and profit in house while the black community will continue to suffer.

This cycle is just one of the many contributing factors that have crippled the black community.

Well the thing is. This is a specific ownership. I would only be mad if I knew the amount of black women that wanted hair care stores. Most people I know who want their own biz wants restaurants. I've never heard someone saying they wanted to own a hair supply store. Maybe a salon but not a hair supply store.

Learning C# and I want to start in mobile and expand to console games

Better get your money up then. It's expensive as fukk to be a console developer. I know with Sony/MS indie program the cost of entry has made it lower, but it's still pretty expensive I think.

Also I'm not sure a dot net based language would be the best route to take if you're planning to make games. Have you downloaded the iOS/Android dev kit yet?

It crushes my soul to see this. Indian own and Asian own black beauty supplies stores just eating of us. SMH any time I gotta step in here and by my cream and brush. I'm first gen Nigerian American but got dayum black folks down own shyt in this country.
Where are you guys mostly? In Brooklyn, blacks own plenty of places, especially hair care/salon, and restaurants.
