It will have bearing for the simple fact the prosecution is trying to portray and paint a picture of your character as a criminal.

All of that was circumstantial/character-revealing, but what put him away was an eyewitness account of him lining the guy up and pulling the trigger. At the very least, this type of situation merits a new trial. New trials have been granted over a lot less.
