2. However, just because that's the way it is doesn't mean you shouldn't tip. If you can't afford a 20-30% tip on the bill, you can't afford to eat there.

When you work a server job you become really good at reading body language and attitude. A server just won’t go over the top when we sense or know (regulars who tip like shyt) we aren’t gonna get a good tip, we just do our job. When I first started I was a busser and the server I worked with would always bet me when we were gonna get a shytty tip. She was right 3/4 of the time. She would make it a point by going over the top for people to show me that no matter what you do some people come in knowing they aren’t gonna tip no matter how good the service is. My advice to people is work your way up to the nicer restaurants where clientele is a bit more upscale.So if people can somehow sense when someone isn’t gonna tip well, do you think workers are giving the same quality service to people who they think are gonna tip well?
