You just said it's a problem in the poor community. That right there tells me some thing bout you...anyway brah brah, I'm sad to inform but the whole of Jamaica is poor and people struggling. It's just the few who are rich and well to do. It's been the same montra being heralded since given independence. The issue is that there is a high level of noticable c00nery in Jamaica due to colonialism by the British and their enslavement, indoctrination and oppression of the people. A high level of respect is given to the Whiteman and Mr. Chin (missa chin) in Jamaica. You can say that most Jamaicans don't support bleaching, which is debatable, however the disdain for the Afroncentric features and color truly exists despite what you may think. As a yute, I always wondered why my mother would pinch up my nose and try to straighten it with her fingers or how I would hear bout brown skin this and that and told to get a brown skin girl and nothing black like my mother. My cousins in the UK all with white women. In Canada my cousin a half breed. You goto Jamaican resorts and the dreads with whitewomen. It's sickening. Yes it's c00ns everywhere and yes fukk Kanye and other c00ns but Jamaicans corner the market on c00nism. My 2 cents, Jah know, one love lol

Me and my family always joke the most racist man in the world is probably some old dark skinned jamaican man. But there is a historical context, during slavery Jamaica was a breaker island. The slaves were initially brought to the west indies to break them through brutal treatment into servitude. So the majority of the broken slaves would then be sold off to the colonies, except for the most rebellious and of course the best slaves would be kept for themselves. This is why there are so many jamaic00ns, and incidentally why the island creates so many rebels like Garvey or Marley.

Its ironic how Jamaica was known for where the most rebellious slaves went and in America many of our ancestors were known for being complacent.

But now its the reverse....its the height of irony.

Now in modern times Black Americans are the ones who are more likely to be "militant" or "rebels"...even the Jamaicans we think are not pushovers its not the same as the Black America. Maybe i'm turning the thread into something else but i just noticed this.
