In my opinion, people from the East Coast don't really fukk with Cali Rap like they think they do. :ld:People on the East Coast really only respect one dynasty of West Coast Rap when you break it down that being NWA-DOC-Dre-Snoop-Pac-Game-Kendrick. :snoop: Oh, and cacs from the East Coast love Pharcyde, Souls and Mischief and Hiero because they sound like a Native Tongues crew down to their jazzy production and playful non-threatening lyrics. If rappers didn't shoutout Mac Dre on every other song earlier this decade, you wouldn't know shyt about Ronald Dregan either. Besides those rappers who else from the West do you really fukk with? :what: Too many people from the East act like anything from the West not tied to Dre is trash and anything from Bay is super trash :aicmon:. People on the East Coast don't realize the vast amount of West Coast Rap that exists past and present. Yes, a lot of it is repetitive garbage, but there are literally dozens and dozens of classic underground West Coast albums that the average East Coast rap fan has never heard. People don't realize how much their beloved Snoop, Dre and Pac were very much influenced by independent rappers from Bay (i.e. Pac got his game from the Bay, Snoop admitted he patterned his style off of 415 from Oakland etc.). To me, 40 is one of the most distinct of those independent hustler personalities from the Bay. I'm from the Bay but I live on the East Coast. The level of hustling and independent thinking in the Bay is on another level. If you've never spent any real time in Northern Cali or the Bay and you're from the East Coast you're not going to really understand 40 . To be real, if you aren't familiar with the culture of the Bay, you don't fully understand Pac. :pacspit:

I'm a black man born in Camden, NJ. Just off the top of my head I've either purchased music from or seen perform live: Ras Kass, Tha Liks, The Coup, Eiht and CMW, Paris, The B.U.M.S., Xzibit, Defari, Planet Asia, NWA and all solo acts, Dogg Pound, Warren G, Spice 1, Hiero crew, Pharcyde, W.C., Whoridas, Pac, Cypress, Phil Da Agony, Krondon, Encore, Mykill Miers, 40 Thevz, Kam, Saafir, Dilated, Jurassic 5, Peanut Butter Wolf, Kutmaster Kurt, .....I could go on and on. Not to mention the occassional single spin I would give to cats I got put up on solely through hip-hop mags or Rap City like 3x Krazy or say Menace Clan.

The weirdest thing about all this is that so many cats are actually equating E-40 with the embodiment of west coast hip-hop. Like if we say we don't fukk with this dude, the fireworks, disses, and coastal wars start popping off.

Two of my top 5 favorite MCs are west coast Mcs, and Eiht at one time was in that list for me. For the younger posters, I can all but guarantee I own or bought more music from west coast acts than some of you dudes who live in Cali have, and I was born and raised on the east coast. Yet we dont fukk with one nikka out of a state of millions and its like we called your momma a bytch.

Am I supposed to start dissing everybody out west cuz yall never fukked with Wise Intelligent or The Artifacts?

This.

I didn't understand E-40 until I was able to chill out West and get faded with the homies while they listened to it.

I hated that shyt at first, but after awhile something clicked, and all that shyt made sense.

Now he's one of my personal favorites.

Crazy.

Exact same thing for me, I never understood why people loved his music.

Until I was smoking chilling with friends playing a major way album and like u siad, it clicked.

I felt like he was speaking to me.

His flow is crazy underrated, but most of all he has something to say.

It's all about culture, breh.

Some shyt won't make sense to you until you allow yourself to be open to the cultures of others, and experience their culture in their element.

Drinking, smoking, partying, and open conversation always expedites this process.

40 helped me understand why the homies moved the way they moved, and thought the way that they thought.

Plus, when I caught his flow, I was able to see that breh was speaking some of the realist shyt any rapper has ever spit.

He built his career strictly off giving nikkas pure game and hustle.

come on dawg

To keep it a buck, I was a big fan of this record even before I moved out West.

Sprinkle Me and Bout it Bout it was the two records that changed my whole perspective of what dope hip hop music was, even before I left the East Coast for the first time.

Crazy shyt is, the first time I saw both videos get played on Rap City, I immediately hit the :hhh::gucci::scust: face, as I was raised up until that point on a strictly East Coast, Boot Camp, Wu, Redman, Nas, etc. diet.

Now, they are both two of my all time favorite records :ohlawd:

:wow:

:why:

Ghost at least has bars and good production

That’s a very good comparison, to me both them nikkas hot garbage. E-40 the beat drops, he’s talking on the record shyt be sounding good once he starts rapping it makes my ears bleed, ghostfqce shyt is garbage from start to finish.

I like a mixture of music from Dre, Snoop PAC, Big, 50, KISS, X, Trick, TI, Luda, Bone Thugs, Scarface, Rosay, not a big bun B and pimp C fan but there shyt knocks and be chill as fukk.

These dudes like E-40 (production is second to none) just hate his raps and Ghostface Killa so many rocks with them and I can’t understand why. These dudes are legends in almost everyone’s eyes. It would be torture if I was tied up and forced to listen E-40, i would have them off me right then and there.
