I didn’t like him for a long time but one of my homies was a big fan. It wasn’t until that song Earl I think it’s on Ball Street Journal that I started to bump more of his shyt. It just clicked that day, must have been the beat or maybe he was flowing slightly different on that song but it made me actually listen to his albums.

He’s not my fav rapper and e never will be but he’s dope

if you not from nor-cal you just may not get it. he represents a fine balance of bay area culture, pimp vocab and player lifestyle. he is literally an evolved entity native to the bay area. you can only find such a mixture of an artist there

It's a gutter/west coast mentality you must understand to "get" 40.

I know he's loved in the southwestern states. It's always the rock bottom folks, to.

Hoods that look 3rd world....Housing projects..etc..etc

I was in these Housing Project's in Arizona called the "Centipedes"(A play on "Sidney P Osborn")

And these niccaz had their own code language based off of E 40 soundbites.

I particularly remember that one^^ (0:59-1:04)

If you heard "Wassuppper!" or "Burn Rubber!".......Get out of dodge:demonic:.

In order to get 40, you just had to be there(west/southwest).....mainly

Arizona dikkrides anything from California and e-40 been moving units for 3 decades so I’m not surprised.

Took an extremely long time for e40 to earn my respect as a lyricist. And a NY dude that was super up on westcoast shyt in the 90s he was one of the only ones I just couldn’t vibe with.no hate his shyt just never hit my ear right.

Nowadays I respect what he does I think now his music is also a little more “mobb” oriented and less with the animated delivery and shyt but even that animated delivery wasn’t no slouch

I like E-40 because he is unique and has his own style. Something that has been missing from Hip Hop for along time. Since regional sounds are basically gone and people will copy others style/flows if it suits them, he stands out even more. Plus if you listen to what he says in a lot of his older music, it really is true 'hustler' music.

I understand why people would be turned off by his voice but there is and will always be only one E-40. Being unique used to count for something :yeshrug:

I can't agree that regional sound is gone.
I can tell where people are from, but I've been around the country.

Why do east coast nikkas who idolize rappers that had woefully limited topical range that didn’t have something to do with glorifying white racist mofioso figures constantly seek to question the credentials of West Coast legends?

Y’all east coast nikkas can go dikkride that “Donnie Broscoe” bullshyt ....we’ll continue to get Game from these authentic soil raps nearly 25 years later :blessed:

East coast nikkas stay running their mouth about originality and how you gotta be original but hate on 40 water one of the most original and creative rhymers to ever do it? How that shyt work lol :what:

West nikkas call Inspectah Decks verse on Triumph lyrical miracle but then place Kurupt in a top 10 with regularity. Truth is if u take regional affiliations away they're basically the same mc. I would give Kurupt the edge but dude put out a double disc, not one but TWO albums full of rappity rapping not saying much outside of being better on the mic than figurative rival mcs and nikkas out West called it an unheralded classic :mjlol:

As to your point of NY rappers deepthroating Mafia culture please dont neglect to mention Snoop named his 2nd album Doggfather.

Kurupt started calling himself Kurupt Capone and Ras Kass started calling himself Ras Kassiano. The West commercial wave in the 90s had just dried up at this point due to Pacs death (R.I.P. :mjcry:) and thus no one cared

The bias runs deep on both sides of the fence is all I'm saying
