Facts.

The young girl may not be having sex at all..but that’s NOT going to stop a young girl that sees that from calling her “dirty”

Her not having sex isn’t going to stop a young boy from seeing her behaviors and calling her a bop

Those labels from her peers do far more damage and evolve into to bigger issues than some old woman calling her fast ….which is some shyt I haven’t heard in forever ..it’s mostly ignored

Women need to keep it a buck and have real conversations with these young girls ..not ignore those behaviors and view it as some coming of age/innocent thing .
It’s like not calling a Bully a Bully and telling him one day he’s gonna run into the wrong one.

Common sense is becoming uncommon.

Calling it a “slur” is a choice. But it’s worth pointing out that it’s often more harmful than good. Just like calling young black men YNs due to their hair or the way they’re dressed. Black kids often get criticized for doing the same things as everyone else. Just like prom is labeled “ghetto prom” while people say nothing about money spent on bar mitzvahs and quiencieras.

There’s already enough discrimination in the world against Black children. So there’s no need for Black adults to actively harm the psyches and self esteem of Black children for doing everyday mundane things. And we all know Black girls are usually called “fast” for wearing shorts around the family pervert, instead of Black families actually addressing the family pervert.
I don’t disagree with you.

I have a son and a daughter and I would never allow anyone to call my daughter “fast” or call my son a YN or any variation of the word nikka. Most of the time it’s used to blame children for harm being brought against them, such as discrimination, assault and rape. Love your kids and teach them appropriate boundaries. Never let anyone label them. Especially if they’re being labeled by adults who are mistreating them or blaming them for being assaulted.

That’s cool..

But it’s not the adults doing it ..it’s their peers.

Most adults nowadays are just pretending they don’t see what’s going on .

The kids will call a boy with a Nike -Ski a YN or a KIa/Infiniti Boy 5 billion times before an adult will

The kids will call a girl a bop 5 billion times before an adult will .

The behaviors are being called out by the kids and not the adults and there is no way to totally shield that.

Those behaviors have to be called/extinguished at the home because whether we like it or not a kid is going to keep a stack with another kid ..and those labels mean a hell of a lot more coming from their peers than a random stranger

This is 1999 thinking in 2025..it’s just not applicable

The context of the tweet and the thread is about Black children being labeled fast. The term “fast” is an older generation term. I have never heard Gen Z (early 20s and teens) or Gen Alpha use that term. They do use YN in a casual way, while older people and non Black people seem to use it in a discriminatory way. That’s why I added that connection.

Yes kids have to navigate their own social circles. But this is a site of adults advocating for the right to label kids. And we know that Black girls and boys are often targeted sexually by adult men and women. So I agree with the original tweet premise (even though the word “slur” is overdoing it) that adults should be careful about labeling kids. Particularly kids they don’t really know and aren’t in community with.

My issue with the word 'fast' is that it is a term used primarily to adultify young Black girls. Slur might a strong word but it is at best problematic.
I've never got the impression that this was racial specific. If non-white people can be Karens than all ethnicities can be fast. If it's a racial slur my grandma must be the fukking grand dragon wizard or some shyt.

When I was in elementary school at the time we didn't have middle school so 6 and 7th graders went to school with us. We had two pregnant chicks one year. What the fukk nare you stupid nikkas talking about like the word fast came out of thin air? It's literally saying you moving too damn fast, slow down and act your damn age.

We literally had chicks braggmg about being 13-16 using FAKE IDs to get into clubs
