Not everyone is skilled or white collar labor, and UPS aint still hiring. Low end food service and retail workers are some of the most highly exploited workers in America. Long hours, on your feet all day, dealing with dumbass customers while being expected to suck it up and leave them with a favorable impression of the company, low to no benefits, extremely rare, very small pay raises, few to no bonuses, and there aren't enough opportunities for advancement relative to the entry level worker pool. I dig companies have to do what they gotta do to offer low prices, but after dealing with a bunch of regular retail workers, that's a contingent I feel for.
The man lacks confidence in himself. It is more of a dependency issue if anything. I hate to hear stories like this, but he put it on himself. How can I have sympathy for your situation when your afraid of the repercussions( being unemployed). My impression on him may be a little judgemental and forthcoming to a extent, but from watching the video he seems relatively normal.
Man up and look around. Chicago has more than 2 million people in the area Im sure theres plenty of warehouse positions, janitors- maintenance position available, trades, something. enhance your own skills- do something!

I don't get the concept of paying someone $15 to do a menial job. These jobs aren't meant to be long term/ made into careers. They are supposed to be stepping stones. You get your foot in the door, gain some skills and move on. I'm sorry but I can't feel bad for him.
