:russ:this is like somebody sayin, "Vince Carter had 11 rings, was the all time leading scorer, 10 time defensive player of the year, who better than Vince:ohlawd:"

How im supposed to argue against the most made up imaginary stats I probably ever seen on this website bruh:heh:

dude lost the assistance of Rocafellas producers, and his Roc chain and proved he was Mike Tyson without Custamato:manny: but without ever showing the dominance even when he was with Custamato...instant fall off:snoop:...Jimmy proved himself to be more self reliant. hell no he aint top 5
Cotdamn, y'all be BUTCHERING that man's name.

It's Cus D'Amato.

I understood the meaning, and like I said, I was paraphrasing from memory which is why I didn't recite the line accurately. Using the same word with two different meanings can be incredibly creative, but it should be done subtly. When a rapper forces it and tries to draw attention to it, is when it gets wack.

Here's Prodigy doing it right:
Dun you bugged out I'm trying to walk a peaceful route
But nikkas always got mouth until that piece come out.

what prodigy did there and what camron does is NOT the same thing...that line is not an example of the heterograph technique
since when is "piece" and "peaceful" the same sounding word? :stopitslime: i get what you are implying tho

if the line was something like

Everyday i see hate so i gotta keep the piece...
I aint with all the hate dog im tryna keep the peace...

that woulda been a better example

Same concept to me, but I see e distinction you made. That was just the first one that came to mind for me, probably since I was bumping Murda Muzik the same time I was listening to Cam. MM is such a slept on banger.

I'm sorry, but is easily in my top 10 and possibly in my top five, but he looses points for releasing a few duds (Crime Pays) and not being 100% focused. I feel he never really grew as an artist, and actually regressed a bit when you hear his classic S.D.E. He never really go serious on alot of his music since then. But when it comes to styles, trendsetting, being REAL, and not selling out, he is DEFINITELY a legend in my eyes. Furthermore his contributions to the game have been immense. As an admitted Dipset stan, i'll admit that finicially Dipset never reached mainstream status, but their influence on hiphop is unquestioned.

My list:

Nas
Z-ro
Tupac
Lupe
Cam'ron

:stopitslime: We just gonna ignore "Horse and Carriage", "Horse and Carriage Remix" (Silkk da Shocker??), "Girls" and "Push It"??
I'm not even holding it against him - :ahh:and :scusthov: have their fair share of awful sellout tracks as well, but since you brought it up...

On an unrelated note, what is Z-ro's Illmatic? I keep hearing about him and K-Rino on here - but I've never checked them out.

i do apply standards to the music i listen to, and because your opinions are different than mine, your "standards" of music are different as well. FOH, stop being so one dimensional.

If a rapper isn't lyrical what good is he? There's a lot of different ways to be lyrical - but a rapper should be spitting.
