Listen you old geezer, BDK isn't sucked off by every wanna-be hip hop head. Since we seen him fall off, we aren't blinded & can put shyt into proper prospective. I can say BDK was "aight" without much response. I say that about Biggie & nikkas get :birdman:

i own both albums & probably know Big's shyt better than you breh. i just think its :scusthov: that because a nikka died when he was "that nikka", he became a martyr for hip hop & is considered better than nikkas who put in way more work than him (not really talkin about Ross here). best believe, every veteran rapper feels this way but wont say it

Nas: "I been out 18 years, dropped 10 odd albums, stayed relevant...
Fan: considers him second best to a 24 yo kid who was around for 3
Nas: *thinks to self* :pacspit:

:ohhh: u know what u right. never even thought about it like that..

big still top 5 doa tho

i agree with this somehwat, despite the fact its probably a shock thread.

jus based on pure volume, i'd say ross has a bigger quantity of songs i regularly listen to then biggie. jus based on the fact he dropped so much music.

but in no way, is anything ross have gon bump as hard as say like "hypnotize" or "big poppa" which like 10+ years later still gets any party crackin.

if Biggie was still alive, your favorite rapper would be flipping burgers.
he died as a rookie and was better than anyone else in the game.

Nah bruh.

BIG legitimately had a massive career. Ross is just sort of occupying people's interest in between superstars.

LOL @ massive career, he had a 3 year run and was killed before he could fulfill his potential. Jay-Z had a massive career.

i hate when these threads come up.

Big released 2 albums, was in rap for 2 & a half years & died at 24 yet no one can ever be compared to him ever :aicmon:

if nikkas weren't so stupid they'd see making Pac/Big into some sort of hip hop deities is part of the reason why we're still yearning to find artists to fill their void in 2012. we put those two too high up on the pedestal.

Wouldn't u say biggie wuz overated b4 he died though?he beat out nas for best lyricist award:wtb:...anybody with success will be overated in biggies case d1ckrode by the media bcuz only he really had the commercial appeal to contend with the west coast, plus dude just has hits...biggie the first nikka u seen overated due to havin radio hits? Far as death yeah pac and big get elevated but its been 20 yrs damn near 20 yrs the bandwagoners hyping them just to hype them have faded...them nikkas just happen to have as many classic songs and classic albums as nikkas like Jay and Nas...but u won't get laughed off for sayin those dudes are better then pac or jay bcuz they have those classics...but Ross?

Name a Ross verse that people who are not even Ross fans would be able to recite if it came on in the club? Or just in a car with ya people? He has the bmf hook...and the line "I know the noreage the real noreaga" line...that's the extent of ross quotables I can think of that people who aren't fans would know,or that people would acknowledge as classic performances where a rapper just killed it,I'm talkin iconic verses like Nate Dogg on "Ain't no Fun",Pacs verse on California Love,Biggie on Juicy,Scarface on Mind Playin Tricks,Jeezy on Soul Survivor,T.I on Neva Scared,DMX Ruff Ryders Anthem,Jay on Can I Get A,Ice Cube on Today Wuz A Good Day,Snoop On Gin and Juice,Juvenile Huh,Plies On I'm So Hood,Luda on Made U Look remix, eminem on renegade....now how many verses Biggie got like that?its a ridiculous ammount in comparison to ross....some of the songs I named the entire song is a standout memorable lyrical perfomance that's historic, some are just memorable standout verses that non fans even know word for word.....u don't have to even be a GREAT rapper to have these kinda performances, but Ross has absolutely 0...he's not a standout as a rapper,he picks standout beats, makes nice enuff hooks,is nice enuff the beats don't carry him anymore but he'll never be able to carry a beat if history has shown anything. ...last month nikka wuz comparin ross to Jay:wtb: wtf is goin on?

I always say when it comes to legacys classics are all that matters...alotta nikkas have "solid" material...classic songs, classic verses, classic albums, classic moments and performances are all a rapper has to they name, everything else from hype, dikkriding from fans all has a statute of limitations bruh...only the classic shyt will survive, bcuz if its classic fa real its timeless...so far as this ross shyt well just see:manny: time will tell it like it always does

First album sells 3 million and catapults him, his city and record label to the top of the game.

Dies.

Second album goes diamond.

Pretty big career.

Unlike, say Ross who just breaks gold, is clowned incessantly and hangs out with whale.

The revision of history in terms of "Big didn't really have a career, he was just kind of popular for 3 years and died. He was like B list. Wasn't nobody feeling him like that" in here is ridiculous. How old are you guys?

He wasn't "kinda popular". Ross is "kinda popular", BIG was catapulted to the upper tiers of rap and crowned a legend after 1 album. People fail to understand that, and it gets lost in the shuffle of him dying. He was already solidified before he died.

It applies more to Ross than Biggie. Biggie's claim to fame is rapping over already classic songs. Real impressive. "Juicy" from the Mtume classic "Juicy Fruit", "Big Poppa" The Isley's Classic "Between The Sheets", "One More Chance" DeBarge's classic "Stay With Me".

Well of course he was ona larger level tahn Ross in '94, nobody knew he existed. And no not everybody was impressed with Biggie. Everyone was nuthugging Nas and Wu.

:wtf:

That's the lamest reason to criticize someone. This is hip-hop. People sample shyt. How the fukk is that a mark against BIG? Seriously? Because he raps over songs you already know? By that logic virtually no rappers from the 80s and 90s have any classics.

And BIG was right there with Nas and Wu. His debut went 3x plat, and he got crowned KONY by The Source directly after "RTD" dropped. That's why Ghost and Rae didn't like him, because he was getting the same props as them.

How old are you man? You got an extremely skewed memory on how shyt was.

Kinda popular fam? What is this revisionist stuff in this thread?

I have no problem with nikka's preferring Ross, but dont try to rewrite history.
Port Of Miami was weak upon delivery.

Trilla was better but still half weak

The next two were good but mad short.

His mixtapes are overrated as fukk.
The premise of the post was that Big did more w/ his first 2 than Ross did.

Here's the thing, even if you erase BIG's second album and death, Ross is still nowhere near him from any standpoint.

To put it into perspective Ross isn't even the most popular rapper from his region.

BIG was right there with Wu, BONE, Nas, Snoop, whoever you want to name from any region back then, after one album.
