You sure you

How could cats call themselves a hip hop head and NOT feel this?

Imagine your cousin, one of your best friends just suddenly figures it out and starts making these left and right for years? An emcee's wet dream:ohlawd:
Bought this gem up in Vermont visiting my sister at college. Walked into Coconuts (RIP) and stumbled upon in when I was 14. I remember reading the blurb on the back of the case that included the names to all the tracks like :gladbron::jbhmm: Let me see what this is about. From the Lone Wolf and Cub intro to B.I.B.L.E. my young mental was:ohlawd:

It's funny that I only realized after watching American Saga that Tical came out before OB4CL, Liquid Swords and Ironman which are all personal classics. While there's a few moments I enjoy on Tical, it's clearly 4th best out of the original 4 solo albums and he had access to RZA's vault before anyone else.

ODB’s debut is far better than Tical too
The OG Tical was lost in RZA's basement flood. The one we heard is a quick redo. EVERYONE says the OG was way better.

I get what you're saying.

I listen to 36 Chambers, OB4CL, & Ironman more than I listen to this one.

Nobody wants to say it, but the reason you're not as into it is that it doesn't have "bangers", or whatever the Wu-Tang equivolent of a banger is.

There's no "C.R.E.A.M." or "Ice Cream" or "Daytona 500" or "Triumph" on it.

It's just solid workmanlike hip-hop.

If you're not predisposed to be into sort of cold-weather East Coast beats, then it's easy to get bored by it.

Also, GZA isn't as charismatic as Meth, Rae, Ghost, or ODB.

Those dudes could've been stars even without Wu.

I think it's a 4 Mic record. "Shadowboxin" is one of the best tracks of the '90s & eventually, I think you'll get it.

It's a record that has to sink in. Each lyric is intricate. Every beat matches the mood. It's the rap equivalent of a gritty crime drama directed by Scorsese

I mean outside of a few joints I never got the love for Wu as a collective. NEVER.

Love ODB and Method Man though
I've always felt like the solo records were better than all the collective records outside of 36 Chambers :manny:
i have heard that koalas have intellectual deficits and venereal diseases, and gosh darn it, i think that may be true!
Yeah, all Koalas got gonorrhea, if I'm not mistaken.

Grandmasters, Legend of the Liquid swords are good to great albums.

Beneath the surface is kind of mid but Pro tools is awful
I feel the opposite. I like some of ProTools, but I can't stand Beneath the Surface outside of a couple tracks. But at this point it's splitting hairs. Ka goes crazy on his track, so that elevates it.

Brick City,New Jerz
t was the night before New Year's, and all through the fukkin projects
Not a handgun was silent, not even a tec
Outsiders is stuck, by enemies who put fear
And blasted on the spot before the pigs were dere
You know hoods robbers snipers new in sight fukk blue and white
They escape before them flash the fukkin lights
Gunshots, shatter first floor window panes
Shells hit the ground and blood stained the dice game
Whether broke callisthetic, any style you set it
Beat nikkas toothless, physically cut up like gooses
But with iron on the side thugs took no excuses
Therefore, your fifty-two handblocks was useless
Links was snatched off necks, scars on throats
Jackets took, after bullet rips through coats
Against those who felt the cold from the steel made em fold
And squeal, once the metal hit the temple of his grill
Construction worker, who was caught for his bomber
No time to swing the hammer that was hangin from his Farmer's
And it's bugged how some nikkas catch slugs
And pockets dug from everything except check stubs
And it does, sound ill like wars in Brownsville
Or fatal robberies in Red where feds look
For fugitives to shoot cops, nikkas layin on roof tops
For his CREAM he stashed in a shoebox
But he was hot, and the strip was filled with young killers
You don't suspect, so cops creep like caterpillars
And born thieves stay hooded with extra bullets
Those who try to flee they hit the vertebrae, increase the murder rate
Similar to hit men who pull out tecs and then
Drop those who act like Thai flows from Mexican
Rabbit, like recipients cashin checks again
Back to the motherfukkin spot on Lexington

:blessed::wow:
