Can someone break down the history of REDMAN's gangster and why so many rappers were shook of him?

goons pulled out on me and my boy, pistol whipped him, snuffed me causing my 40 (private stock) to drop and break and ran our pockets and took my fake ass gold chain. good times.

that's the reason why you have new yorkers scared to come over to newark. the funny thing is you have folks from jersey and newark scared to go over new york over the same shyt. :laff:

I'm not trying to downplay the fact that Face & Bill have mental issues but outside of a few joints like "Mind Playin Tricks" & "Ever So Clear" the actual musical content was way over the top crazy. We all knew they weren't gangsters or psychotic murderers.

Willie D went head up with J Prince, and had everybody in Houston at his head. That nikka is more gangster than damn near any rapper you can name, cause NONE of these other nikkas doing that.

Nah..New York aint sweet but I have literally never met anybody in newark, east orange, irvington, hillside or any of the surrounding cities that was scared of ny in any way, shape or form..dont know where you got that from

maybe in the 80s when shyt was hectic in both ny and newark that was the mentality but now? not really

Yeah I was just about to say every story I've ever heard about the Geto Boyz made me convinced that those nikkas were crazy as cat shyt... no acting at all... some nikkas don't give a fukk... Willie D & Bushwick REALLY don't give a fukk...

Redman was a street nikka, but his gangster was because nikkas knew he wasn't frauding when he rapped, like he'd really come see you on some street shyt, plus he ran with some wild nikkas (The Twinz and the Pistol Packing Posse).

Red was a wild nikka back in the day. Like most nikkas for Newark are known to be.
He's a tough dude. He used to kick tha shyt out of other rappers

fukk I gotta go to New Ark in April, I hope nobody tries to make me run my shyt.

I gave you some good advice already :umad:

Avon Avenue and Elizabeth Avenue is perfect for tourists around this time. If you have trouble getting around they have people on every corner designated specifically to give directions. You can identify them easily. They'll be wearing a red bandana tied either around their head or hanging out the right side of their back pocket. Have fun my dude.

I always hear about rappers either being shook of redman in the early 90's or testifying to his gangster, could someone give me a history as to why that was/is?

I don't doubt it at all, I've just never read/watched or heard anything about it.

His crew was the pistol packing posse or something? (first time I heard of them was the prodigy thread that was made today, and dudes was also saying redman was a dusted out lunatic back in those days)

so yeah, any old heads around to break it down?

A group of dummies packing pistols is something to worry about? this is why you shouldn't support gun control laws

He wasn't deep in the streets or anything. He was just the first rapper to bring the dust blunt vibe to rap.
He was also the first rapper to embrace the idea of being psychotic and make it believable. I thought Geto Boys and Onyx were dope but I could tell they were putting on an act.

redman was definitely in the streets, breh.
anyway,...not much is known about his actual activity.
as it was a different day.
yet, back in the day before he learned how to humanize his draw.
he was regarded as the guy and whose crew you did not fukk with, at all.
on top of pack pistol posse,..being the go to imagery for the media's attack on rap from a content/visual perspective.

I for sure know from k solo, himself...
that red is and was always thorough.
him and k solo were/are regard of themselves like a brother from another.
so, I can say from a definite connection, from exposure to k solo.
that red is one of those guys, like that.
