Can someone explain Google's logic behind messaging in Android?

People like things to be simple and organized. Google is all over the place when it comes to communication. I don't think even Google knows what will happen with Voice at this point...that shyt has been a mess for YEARS now. Want Fi? You have to use your google voice number to do so.
Google+ is a disaster and they tried to force it down people's throats on YouTube as well.
Messenger will eventually go away on newer android devices, but they can't drop it for a few years because so many people in the world were still using goddamn GINGERBREAD in 2014. In early 2014 I think Gingerbread still accounted for about 20% of the android platform and just recently finally seems to be dying off. Most are on KitKat now.

I can't send photos in messages in Google Voice on my phone either.
I swear one day im going to try to get in at google.

I switched to iOS about two months after this thread. Had enough of the messaging woes. There are many things I miss about Android, but nothing that outweighs the messaging experience improvements of iMessage.
Downright shameful that they still haven't fixed messaging yet not surprising to hear that they've managed to make it worse.

Hangouts still may be fine for me because I'm on Sprint and it's integrated with Google Voice, so them removing SMS from it might not even effect me

Google has the best technology in the industry but Apple has probably the best product team.
I think Google is more engineer focused so you tend to have engineers making product decisions which imo is a no no.
Steve Jobs was so sucessful because he was a product guy and apple was one of the first companies that put product first and not cutting edge tech or simply worring only about the financials.
Tim cook is a supply chain guy which is why some people say Apple hasnt been the same after Steve. IMO Tim is an amazing CEO BUT Apple does not have a Product person that was on steves level OR Tim might have some disconnect on the Product side.
