well, i can talk about why i find it appeal since i'm sure there are different reasons for everyone. anyways, for a sci-fi movie, it isn't over involved like the other sci-fi movies and has a little spiritual aspect tied into all that high tech futuristic space travel. and that's rarely something you see in sci-fi shows or movies. the main point to stuff like sci-fi is to put science at the forefront and to make it look like the dominant force and ideology of the future. however, with star wars not only is the science in the future beef'd up, you also have more spiritual, mystical powers beef'd up as well. and it puts everything on an equal playing field or more realistic to real life and what we experience now in regards to that push and pull between science and spirituality. i mean, if they're able to travel at lightspeed physically, why can't our minds move objects then? we able to move to places lightyears away but we're also (or a select few rather) can move things right in their presence.
yeah, so i just feel it balances a little more closely to real life and incorporates a lot of aspects while not becoming too complex...
