Can we all agree that Lil Wayne started the "open colorism" trend in today's music?

:patrice: Breh, they had a whole stripper boycott because the dark skinned black women was being bushed in favor of Latinas.

This is why I never take dudes serious with their “it’s just my preference” monologues. There’s almost always some anti black rhetoric beneath the surface.

Yeah but that's Manhattan/Harlem shyt. In BK/Queens it's a lot of Caribbean women around of all shades and they still get plenty of attention on the regular.

I wonder why people think that other races of women are exempt from...uh...how do I put this.....WOMEN shyt

Yeah, but most can agree which ones are the most difficult, less submissive... It's not like people just be making up these stereotypes out of thin air

He did an interview where someone asked him what type of chicks he dated (black, white, etc), and he said he preferred light skinned women and wasn't into dark skinned women. There was this huge outrage from some people over it for a long time. They even tried to make him apologize :what: i'm like nikka fukk that, i wouldn't have apologized for shyt
He used a degrading term to describe dark skin women ("dark butts").That's what the backlash was about and well deserved.F8ck him.

He only used it because they was clowning him for being lightskin.

Now colorism has been around in hip-hop even before him, as light skin girls were seen as top tier and preferential. However, it was never vocalized til Lil Wayne said "I like em long hair thick red bone" on Every Girl In The World back in '09.

After this, it made it seem okay for other rappers and singers to start vocalizing their preference for light skin women... on various songs Off the top of my head, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Juicy J, Game, Trey Songz, French Montana, Young Thug, Birdman, Kodak Black, etc. I don't remember rappers talking bout "red bones" until Lil Wayne said. And Lil Wayne himself has so many lyrics about "red bones" "red bytches" etc etc... I'm sure there's some Trick Daddy songs or some shyt on the low... but I'm talking about the popularity and the trend, which Wayne started.

Nope. There were videos like the Mystical one where it was nothing but lightskin women all around before this Wayne video. It didn't start with Wayne.

why? whats wrong with preferring lightskin black women?

if i say i prefer dark skin men that's fine, but the reverse "needs to stop"?

Please don't twist what I said. I said the WORSHIP of whiter skin should cease. I just find it strange that a group of naturally darkskinned people do not like their own skin and that they would prefer to have features that resemble their oppressor.

In no world should we normalise the fact that 77% of nigerian and 40% chinese women literally pour bleach on their skin to become lighter. It is a sickness within our community.
